Positive: Eide Gard was perfect for our overnight stay in Skjolden. Mara was extremely helpful showing us around and stayed up to serve us drinks on the deck overlooking Lustrafjorden. Nice and secluded place to rest up for two, especially if you’ve been camping for a while. Very affordable for boutique lodging. Ask her for hiking tips! She has a fun one up her sleeve.

Positive: We had a very nice and special stay. The view was stunning, rooms were charming and we enjoyed delicious home made breakfast. We met the host who was very welcoming and accommodating, even if we checked in later than planned. We also enjoyed a nice little hike to the Wittgenstein house, just half an hour walk from the hotel. The hotel was just what we were aiming for, and also great value for money.

Negative: Bathrooms are shared, but this was no surprise and I think it is also reflected in the price.

Positive: A wonderful historic house amongst beautiful surroundings. The owner was very passionate about the history of this significant location, which is nicely conveyed with plenty of information available to guests. I stayed in Wittgenstein's room, which was full of charm. It was almost like travelling back in time, and yet with modern conveniences like well functioning wifi and a new bathroom with a good shower. Our host laid out a lovely buffet for breakfast and was very accommodating.

Negative: Be prepared for that the two bathrooms are shared with other guests. This was no problem as it was quiet but I imagine this would require coordination with other guests in busier seasons. But having to get to know your fellow house guests a little is hardly a negative. Be aware also that the nearby shops do not open late, so best to arrive with what you need.
