Our Quinta is nestled in the green mountains of central Portugal amidst centuries-old olive trees that overgrow the region's typical cultural terraces. If you are looking for peace, deceleration, closeness to nature and authentic participation in the original country life of Portugal, you have come to the right place. The house consists of a lovingly renovated natural stone house, which today houses the bedroom on the upper floor and the kitchen and bathroom on the lower floor. This was expanded by a modern, spacious living room with large panoramic windows that can be opened so that the house and garden merge. Both in front of the house and on the huge roof terrace you have a magnificent view of the deep valleys of the Rio Zezere and Rio Pera, which merge below the house.
The area offers great opportunities for leisure activities: hiking directly from the house, wonderful swimming spots (Praia fluvial) on the rivers with clear, cool water, especially in the heat of summer. Swimming by the swimming pool in the lake close to the property, fishing, cycling on quiet country roads, water sports with kayak or canoe, motor sports (squad). Due to the proximity of the Quinta to the historic market town of Pedrogao Grande, which can easily be reached on foot, you can visit local markets and restaurants, there are numerous different shops, there are banks, medical facilities and the traditional cafes and bars that are typical for Portugal. You can also participate in the numerous festas, which are celebrated in summer, and dance and celebrate until well after midnight with local music.
The wider area is tempted by cults in UNESCO cities such as Coimbra, Tomar, Alcobaca, and the endless pristine sandy beaches of the Atlantic can be easily reached within a day trip. Well-known bathing and surfing spots such as Nazare, Peniche and the port city of Figuera da Foz can be reached quickly. Or you are just lazy and enjoy the peace and quiet of the property with the awareness that you can walk into the Portuguese civilization at any time. The Quinta de Convento is ideal for couples, but also very good for families, as the children will also get their money's worth thanks to the numerous bathing opportunities.
Due to the sheltered south orientation of the property and the possibility of heating the house, the property is also particularly suitable for stays outside of summer. The climate is very pleasant, even in summer it cools down again and again to a good sleeping temperature through the mountains and the plenty of fresh water from the rivers, and even in the cooler season, the Mediterranean sun quickly has very pleasant temperatures.
The transport connection is very good, both with your own car and through the very well developed bus network in Portugal.

Summary: Well equipped , comfordable with interesting fruitful garden, only suggestion would for a BBQ and perhaps a better cooker ! A very peaceful area mainly forested. We enjoyed our stay

Summary: Our first time in Portugal was delightful. Situated in the most incredible location, with stunning views over the mountainous ranges of Pedrogao Grande, this property was secluded from what seemed like the rest of the world. We felt like we were in our own private paradise. Walks to the local town centre were only 15 minutes away by foot. People were extremely friendly and accommodating to our growing use of the Portuguese language. There was a fantastic range of breads and pastries available at the local bakery/patisserie. The prices were a steal, too. During our 9 day stay we went for local walks twice a day. Nearby you will find natural rock pools to swim in, a sectioned off part of the lake also. There are a few good restaurants littered in the centre of Pedrogao Grande, Taberno De Ferrador being the best we came across. House was delightful. If you are in need of stripped back and simple holiday to unwind and unplug, you'll find this place caters to your needs 100%.

Summary: We greatly enjoyed our time at this property. It is in a quiet location on the edge of Pedrogao Grande, a pleasant small town, and well placed for exploring the region, there are many excellent walks within a short drive, as well as river beaches, many small towns and historic sites to explore, and the delightful city of Coimbra. The property is comfortable, spacious and has great views over the valley. We would have no hesitation in recommending.

Summary: If you like hiking combined with good food and trips to historical places, this house is a great starting point. At the end of a (warm) day it is also a great place to relax and enjoy the view.

Summary: Lots of positives about this great little rural house. Fantastic panoramic views from the roof terrace. The garden was a lovely place to explore, lots of flowers & fresh fruit - passion fruit, grapes, pears, figs. The hammock was so relaxing & comfy! The large sitting room was a great room with views from all of the large glass doors & windows which lead on to the small but adequate terrace with comfy sun beds & a large parasol. Everywhere was very clean on our arrival, with clean bedding & towels. All appliances worked, induction hob was a little tricky to master - instructions were in German! But we got the hang of it. A small oven or gas barbecue would have been a welcome addition to the kitchen :-) as we were a little limited on what we could cook. The house is perfectly situated - the walk to the village is about a 20 minute stroll. It was a shame there was only one bike as we would have liked to have cycled there. Also, there are several walks in the area which are easy to follow. We did the one down through the woods to the river. There are checkpoints along the way with viewing points & informaton boards. We drove to the dam, which is a must. It's a real feat of engineering, really breathtaking. The key holder was friendly & reliable and easy to contact. We had a lovely, hot, relaxing stay on our first Portuguese holiday, thank you 😀

Summary: With a modern extension that overlooks a magnificent view juxtaposing nicely with the tastefully decorated original house, this property was just what we needed as a base to explore the magnificent heart of Portugal. Martin, the owner, is friendly and helpful and he even has a pretty good taste in music - so much so, that a vast library contained on a memory stick left in the stereo got played numerous times! We wouldn't hesitate to return.
