In the Perigord Region Natural Parc, at walking distance from the small historical village of Mareuil, the Farm of Montbreton 180 acres welcomes you.
We raise 80 sheep ,12 chickens , and 2 friendly dogs .
The cultures around us are certified organic . The permaculture vegetable garden and orchard are giving us most of the food during the season.
From your house you can access immediately to the forest for a promenade along a charming solitary valley .
The village offers the necessary : a convenient store, three bakers ,a butcher, a pub, three hairdressers, a restaurant, a pharmacy etc. A weekly farmers market on Tuesday morning will surprise you with all the local produces .
The silence is gold at night, the day time is rhythm by birds and crickets singing .
"L'ecurie" is a renovated high ceiling stoned stable from the nineteenth century.
The stair way to the ancient horse groomer bedroom is small and original .
The ceiling of the children dormitory shows the big oak frame.
The house is cool even in the hottest summer days.
L'ecurie is set in the back of Montbreton and enjoy all the facilities : swimming pool ,tennis court, park benches, beautiful trees, access to a lot fo hiking trails, bike rides, canoe, private lake fishing .

Summary: What a beautiful farm for a relaxing stay! Brice was very welcoming and helpful with suggestions of places to eat and shop. He had good English language skills and was very helpful in guiding our still-developing French! There are nearby places, even on the farm, to hike on trails and explore the woods. We ate our meals on a table in the backyard watching the sheep grazing around us. All in all, a beautiful place and time! I highly recommend it!

Summary: A cool quant beautifully eclectic and charming old house nestling in the Dordogne countryside. Still and quiet but for the sounds of the woods and the sheep that mill around the farm/chateau where the house rests. Perfect for relaxing and country walks and tasty French food as you are only 5 minutes walk from town. The swimming pool refreshes on the long hot summer days. The hosts are generous and gracious.

Summary: Fantastic value month-long stay in this converted building on a farm with beautiful surroundings. Brice and Helene were great hosts, very welcoming and friendly. Helene provided us with fresh produce from the vegetable garden. Our young daughter loved being outside, watching the sheep and chickens on the farm. The pool was great. WiFi unfortunately didn't work in our building.

Summary: We were looking for a countryside retreat and this vacation gave us a taste of family farm life. Brice and Helene were warm and generous hosts. Mareuil was walking distance and had more amenities than we were expecting. Brantome is an easy drive and is a beautiful village. We also took day trips to other towns as well as Lascaux. We got up close to sheep and chickens and enjoyed al fresco dining in the converted stable of this generational farm, which provided us with a bit of an immersive experience to French farm life.

Summary: Brice and his family made us very welcome and quickly met our needs. They directed us to all the local attractions. The accommodation is a converted barn with lots of old-world charm. It is not plush but, had everything we needed. The location is amazing, in the middle of the lush Dordogne countryside. It is also very close to the small town of Mareuil which has everything that you need and a Chateau to visit, all within walking distance. Montbreton is a very peaceful place and we had a great time there.
