Nozanno Villa | Enchanting 15th Century Villa In The Heart Of The Tuscany

12 Bedroom Villa in Nozanno, Lucca

Villa Trenta is a magnificent villa dating back to the 15th century located at the foot of the famous hills that surround the beautiful city of Lucca. With large, airy rooms and frescoed walls, it is an enchanting example of the summer residences built by the noble families of Lucca in centuries past to escape the heat and noise of the city. Furnished with antiques and with minimal changes to the original building, the villa will charm aesthetes and culture enthusiasts alike.
The property is set within a large stone-walled garden, typical of the region, which hosts centuries-old trees and several water points and possibilities for al fresco dining and relaxing. Built on several plateaus, all with their distinctive atmosphere, the gardens create wonder and excitement at every turn, providing both intimate spaces and large lawns of lush green grass. The alleys, dotted with lemon trees, lavender and local herbs contribute to create a priceless out-of-time feeling.
Located 5 km from Lucca, the villa is an ideal base to enjoy the Tuscan countryside and is within easy reach of the main cities in Tuscany such as Florence, Pisa, and even Sienna and San Gemignano. The Versilia coast (Viareggio and Forte dei Marmi) with nice beaches, excellent restaurants, nightlife and shopping facilities is a 30-minutes’ drive away. While the walled garden provides absolute privacy, the property is also within walking distance of the main square of Ponte a Moriano.
The villa is a made up of a single building with a surface of 2,500 m² spread over 4 floors, each with a distinct look and atmosphere, testament to the multiple functions of villas in the past. The first floor, with its high ceilings and frescoed walls, was historically the owner’s residence. The ground and second floor offer a more rustic feel with thick wooden beams and dark terracotta floors.
Ground floor: The main entrance hall, which used to be the ballroom, leads to a large wine cellar lined with old wine and olive oil barrels, a play area with a billiard and a ping pong table and 1 bedrooms with ensuite bathroom and direct access to the garden. A separate entrance also provides access to a fully-equipped summer kitchen complete with an old stone oven which can be used to cook pizza. The first floor hosts a majestic dining room, two spacious living rooms and a reading room with floor to ceiling antique bookshelves, a large kitchen with a direct access to the garden and 7 bedrooms and 7 bathrooms. The second floor includes 4 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms and two large living rooms.
Included services: 3 hours of daily housekeeping (except Sundays), linen change on Saturday, gardner and pool attendant, welcome basket.
Extra services: extra services can be arranged at the time of booking. Examples include wine tastings, chef service, daily breakfast service, pizza nights, extra housekeeping, etc. Do not hesitate to ask for our trusted providers!

Summary: This well appointed villa in a beautiful setting is exactly what we dreamed of for our family gathering. Ideally located for sightseeing in all of Tuscany, yet a quiet and comfortable retreat with a lovely pool and game room for fun and entertainment. Lorenzo and his team are very responsive and helpful without being intrusive to your privacy. We enjoyed every moment and only regret that our visit went by too fast. We highly recommend this property for a memorable and authentic Italian experience.

Summary: We organized a group of our family and friends (24 of us) to rent this villa for two weeks in May 2024. Working with Lorenzo made the process so easy as he was highly responsive to our questions and our needs as well as being a charming host. With his help we were able to arrange a pizza night meal, a chef prepared dinner, ebike rental and a yoga class. The villa itself was wonderful. The rooms were beautifully decorated with antiques, beautiful carpets and frescos. The gardens were heavenly, scented with jasmine, roses and lemon trees and surrounded by olive groves. The villa was built in the 15th century on the outskirts of Lucca in a charming village named Ponte a Moriano. Ponte a Moriano has a lovely Tuesday morning produce, flowers, and clothing outside market. The village also has a number of shops, bakeries and resturants. We had several memorable meals at Ristorante Erasmo. The village has a railroad station that will take you to Lucca in a matter of minutes. We enjoyed our excursions to Lucca, a wonderful walled Tuscan city with great shopping, beautiful churches, daily opera performances and a park built on top of the wall around the city. From Lucca there are frequent trains to Florence, Piza and other Tuscan towns.

Summary: Property description was accurate, and we used 8 bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms. Villa dates to the 14th century and is clean and spacious. Mattresses were very comfortable. Kitchen had two dishwashers and 2 oven/ranges. Owner maintained communication and was responsive throughout. We enjoyed our stay.

Summary: I stayed in the villa with my family and friends (22 people) and we had a wonderful time! Lorenzo was an amazing host, very communicative and accommodating. We hired a pizza chef and another chef a couple times which I would highly recommend. We also used the kitchen to cook for our big group, and it had everything we needed. The villa did get a little warm during the peak heat of August, but the fans in each bedroom helped. The property is beautiful, exactly like the pictures. We did require cars to go to the grocery store and Lucca about a 15-20 minute drive away. Would highly recommend!

Summary: I can hardly express how lovely it was staying at Villa Trenta! It was the perfect place for our large international family reunion. The photos show the beauty of the rooms, but do not quite convey how large and comfortable they are. The whole property--the swimming pool, the game rooms, the wine cellar, the patios, etc.---provided so many places for us to convene in groups, both large and small. Lorenzo was the perfect host: gracious and helpful yet never hovering (he lives elsewhere nearby). He helped us arrange a catered dinner, a professional wine tasting, and a pizza dinner baked in the ancient oven in the villa. All delicious! He also gave us a tour and tasting of Villa Trenta's wines and olives and limoncello. Wonderful! As if that were not enough, Lorenzo gave us a thorough talk on the history of Villa Trenta, which has been in his family for over 100 years (a mere fraction of the villa's lifetime). I cannot recommend a stay at Villa Trenta highly enough.

Summary: We were a group of 18 women celebrating a milestone birthday in July 2023. Lorenzo's place was recommended to us and our stay there can really only be described as magical. From the huge rooms filled with antiques, to the chiming bells, saltwater pool and morning breakfasts, everything about our stay in this wonderous villa was perfect. Lorenzo is a consummate host and helped us arrange meals and made local recommendations, including some excellent lunch spots in Lucca. The villa is about 15 minutes from Lucca, and really, a car is a must if you're going to stay here. The minute you cross through the gate into the pea gravel drive, you are transported into another time. The villa is huge, so comfortably accommodated our party of 18. We had arranged for a chef to come in daily to make us breakfast, a pizzaola to make one dinner and a chef to make three other dinners. The rest of the time we dined in or around Lucca, which has some excellent restaurants. The pictures do not do the villa justice. It is charming and special - but if you are looking for modern, this is not the place for you. The bedrooms are massive, and the mattresses are new, clean and superbly comfortable. We really felt that we were a part of the place, not merely staying there, and that feeling is not something that is easily replicated. If you have the good fortune to be able to book Villa Trenta, you should.

Summary: Our party of 24, mostly from the US and some from Asia, had an amazing time at the Villa Trenta. Lorenzo, the host and family member of the property, was a gracious host from the check-in and departure from the Villa. Our group had a memorable time and found this 15th Century Villa with more than enough space. We also had several chef-cooked meals recommended by Lorenzo, which turned out to be fabulous. The freshly made pizza by Miguel was out of this world and allow us to appreciate Miguel's family recipe for making pizza, from preparing the dough to placing it in the wood fire oven on site. I want to take this opportunity to thank Lorenzo, the host, and the staff for a highly enjoyable stay. We shall be back in Tuscany to visit our new in-laws. Thank you again for your hospitality!

Summary: Do not hesitate to book this amazing property! We travelled as a group of four families from Canada (16 people, including 8 children/teens ranging from ages 8-18 plus 8 adults) and it had more than enough lovely bedrooms and bathrooms plus so much more! The house is so incredibly beautiful and full of character and history and the pool and grounds, including an amazing eating and lounging area, and a lovely small church with bells chiming from the bell tower, were equally beautiful. We spent our days lazing by the lovely pool, cooking amazing meals in the very well equipped kitchen and eating them out in the gorgeous outdoor eating area or grand indoor dining room, reading books and visiting inside and outside the villa in its many comfy spots, and enjoying playing pool, ping pong and bocce. The host, Lorenzo, could not have been more attentive and hospitable, even bringing us candles and lanterns during an unexpected power outage during a large thunderstorm, and arranging for three amazing meals by chefs who came and cooked them for us at the villa (including pizza night, which was amazing). Thank you, thank you Lorenzo for your hospitality and for allowing us to experience your gorgeous villa and property! We cannot recommend it highly enough and can't wait to return!

Summary: Lorenzo and his team made this a wonderful experience for our family of 21. Mid July was definitely a hot time of year, but the villa amenities made for a delightful vacation. We all spent much time in the pool, especially the kids. We enjoyed the cooler mornings and casual breakfast to start our day. We then moved on to daily excursions, including beach, Lucca, Florence, and Pisa. Gelato was sampled in every location. We made some amazing meals together, including three dinners prepared in the pizza oven. The nearby grocery was a daily trip and had everything we could want (including very inexpensive wine). Dinners started around the large outdoor table and then retired to the outdoor seating area for hours of continuing fun. The wines from the cellar were a lovely complement. Lorenzo’s hospitality and the beauty of the villa made for a vacation experience we will treasure for years to come.

Summary: We were three generations of a family gathering a total of 18 people and had plenty of space and a fantastic time. All of the rooms are large so nobody felt like they got a raw deal. The pool is fabulous and the celler with games is great for evening entertainment. Location Luca is fantastic I don’t have anything other than high praise for the villa and the host.
