Essene Country Lodge offers a satisfying escape to the countryside for those who enjoy peace, privacy and tranquility. For those who like to relax, you can daydream by the stream, read in the garden or simply meander around with animals. Take a 5-minute stroll and you’ll be at the wonderful cafe.
The spacious prooerty is set on 1.6 hectares of heritage land fully surrounded in mature trees. This holiday rental is for two bedrooms, kitchenette, lounge and large bathroom; however on special events such as fielddays and weddings is rented out as whole of house.
Conveniently positioned close to Mystery Creek event centre, the Avantidrome and other nearby attractions include; Hobbiton (30 mins), Glowworm caves (50 mins) and Lake Karapiro (15 mins).

Summary: This was our first place in New Zealand. Accommodations were clean and comfortable and the hot tub outside, surrounded by farmland and Eucalyptus, was lovely. The birds were a welcome wake up and the sunrise stunning (They did have shades to block it out for late risers too) It was an easy drive to Hobbiton and the Waitimo caves. I’d stay here again!

Summary: The exact restful and quiet getaway we were looking for outside of Hamilton, but convenient to local sites and attractions (Hobbiton, Rotorua, Hamilton Gardens). Welcomed warmly by property owner, who was responsive and helpful with questions and needs. Fresh-picked fruit was waiting for us along with all necessities.

Summary: Very relaxing thank you. Accommodation was top notch in a lovely natural setting - I haven't heard frogs croaking for a long time!Plenty of information about attractions in the area. Hamilton Gardens A1. Enjoyed brunch and a stroll in Cambridge and it was worth the distance in stunning counrtyside to Sanctuary mountain.

Summary: Beautiful grounds, especially delightful in spring with the clearest nighttime skies, complete with a fire pit (perfect for making s’mores and safely enjoying the primal parts of life) and outdoor hot tub (wonderful under the night sky). Practically, for more than a few nights stay and with many children, you need to be aware that there isn’t a laundry in the apartment (so be sure to pack enough clothes, or, be prepared to take a drive to Leamington to launder your clothes). I also wasn’t explicitly aware that the house was shared with the property owners (I possibly mis-read this on the listing), but Colleen and Bruce were very accommodating, understanding of little ones, and didn’t make us feel like we were in any way a nuisance. You’ll enjoy your stay here, without a doubt.

Summary: Super clean, comfortable and amazing location for a short break. Good facilities including pod coffee machine! Our only issue is that we thought we had booked a place sleeping 8; this was not the case as the owners now live in the adjacent cottage, but they could not have been more helpful with the provision of a sofa-bed (with memory foam mattress) for the lounge to allow our 5th person to stay.

Summary: Stained sheets and a very uncomfortable master bed. A bad smell under the sink, left us wanting to wash dishes before even being used as permeated through under bench. Possible wasp nest under deck. Garden felt uncared for. Calling the place a "Lodge" going a bit far. Nice touch with the veggies (home grown) in the bowl on the table and some basics in pantry handy.
