Positive: The apartment was great, just exactly what we wanted. East facing, so we could enjoyed the terrace and the sea view the whole day. Pleasant surprise for us was the roof top terrace that also had a great view. There were some welcome snacks and water that was a nice touch.

Positive: For my first trip to Crete, I wanted a more traditional Cretan location to stay, with old school architecture, design, accoutrements, and surrounds. The Spot on the Beach checks every box. What a beautiful place to have stayed. Bath temperature crystal clear water coming right up to the stairs on a private beach. A saltwater pool right on the main level outside a simple, perfectly decorated and laid out apartment. The views were amazing. The apartment was amazing, clean, and located where you could see all the way to the main harbor and airport, but on a road perfect for traveling between Heraklion and Chania. At night, during high tide, it sounded as if the water was coming right to the front door. Forget wave sounds on a radio or streaming service. This was the real thing, and it was amazing. Michael, your host, is someone I will truly miss until I can get there again. He was friendly, accommodating, and gave me all kinds of info about where the best eating was and general information on where to do things in downtown Heraklion. From the time I made the reservation to the last time I saw him, he made the trip as easy and pleasant as possible. Kudos and thanks to him! As mentioned the apartment is an easy drive to downtown Heraklion, beyond to places like Knossos Palace and Heraklion Airport, and in the other direction to Reythymno and Chania. There are tons of places to eat within easy reach and also places to find groceries and other supplies in both directions. You can see the ferries that go to Santorini and other islands from the decks at the apartment. Do yourself a favor if visiting Heraklion and get in touch with Michael. Give this quaint location a try. You will not be disappointed. It is worth every penny of the price and amazingly it was far more reasonable than Is imagined such accommodations in Crete could be.
Negative: The only thing I didn't like is that I had to leave.

Positive: The location is absolutely amazing. It is literally on top of the sea, ie on top of a small pebble beach (shared essentially only with the apartment neighbors). You can go swimming by going down a flight of stairs. There is very little room for sunbathing at the beach in high tide, but we had a lot of space for sunbathing on the terrace, and comfy loungers.

Positive: Amazing views, swimming pool and private beach access. Great location, close to the city and airport.
Negative: Our room had not been cleaned before our arrival! Only the bedsheets had been changed, but nothing else had been done, not even cleaning the toilet and emptying the bins. When we mentioned this to the owner, he said there was an issue with the cleaner and came over to clean the toilet himself but didn’t do anything else and we had dust, hair and overall dirt lying around for our whole stay. Also, there were no toiletries, no basics in the kitchen like coffee or tea, or cooking oil, which we had to get ourselves. The owner lives in one of the units, he is lovely but failed to resolve this issue during our stay. When contacting the management, they said it was up to the owner to resolve the issue and didn’t provide any further help. Overall very disappointing to pay a high price with an expectation of basic cleanliness and basic supplies, especially as they were mentioned as inclusions on the listing. The view is fantastic and the units are spacious which compensated our experience a little bit, but overall very poorly managed.
Summary: Amazing views and private space, but manage your expectations: old and not clean.
