3 Bedroom Cabin in Westcliffe

Summary:
Triple Creek Cabin is hidden away in the eastern slope of the Sangre de Cristos. This log home is designed to pull the mountain views into every room. Placed among several creeks, which produce a most soothing white noise of rushing water all year long. No road or neighboring cabin can be seen from this private enclave.
Rates have been reduced at least 30% for up to 4 guests for next 90 days. 5th & 6th guests costs $50 per night each.
Access is via CR-150, also known as Muddy Road, so named by how the last 1.5 miles of the approach softens up for about a month every Spring.
Access to the hot tub requires acknowledgement of a release of liability and a per-stay fee. The fee is only applied to groups of guests adding this amenity to their reservation making the place more affordable for those groups who do not use the hot tub.
Upon booking, you will receive a welcome message and an invitation to download our mobile app that provides a broad range of information about the cabin and the area. We encourage use of the mobile app because information such as restaurant hours and events is kept current. A printed Guest Guide is provided at the property but is more limited and not as current as the mobile app.
The Space:
This GORGEOUS log cabin is surrounded by aspen and pine trees in a tapestry of small creeks. Photos faintly capture the scene, but the effect of seclusion and wilderness is multiplied by the soothing sound of rushing creeks that flow year round.
The main floor is designed for family living in an environment that blurs indoor with the great outdoors. A slider facing the Wet Mountain Valley (east) provides quick access to a covered picnic table and a Traeger grill. A floor-to-ceiling wall of windows pulls in Hermit Peak to the south. Likewise the remaining windows and doors throughout the cabin open up to the surrounding forest interwoven with creeks in the foreground and mountains in the background.
The kitchen is ideal for entertaining with expansive countertops against log walls and a wet island facing the living and dining room. All new appliances and a thoughtful complement of utensils, pots, pans, crock pot, air fryer, etc. are provided. Coffee bar includes a burr grinder, a supply of fresh, organic coffee beans and a drip coffee maker. Bring a few CD's to enjoy cooking to your favorite tunes. Or enjoy the classical music loaded in the CD player tucked under a corner cabinet.
The main floor flows from the spacious kitchen/great room to a full bath, two bed rooms and a utility room containing a large capacity washer and dryer.
The log staircase leads to a loft overlooking the great room and the wall of windows. At the top of the stairs is a flat-panel TV and comfy area for family movies or for playing video games. A few steps away is a spacious master suite with a luxurious, en suite bathroom. Perfect for a couple who wants to retire early or work a few hours away from the fray. The master suite includes a seating area with a couch perfect for relaxing with a good book. Across the room is a medium-sized desk perfect for answering emails or completing tasks. The bathroom has both a large soaking tub and a spacious walk-in shower.

Maps provided at the property and at links found on our "DACK" Mobile app will point you to a broad range of trails that explore both the Sangre de Cristos and the Wet Mountains. Hiking enthusiasts will want to visit Trails for All for insights into picking the optimal trail for your interests and altitude considerations. Sangres in particular, offer a wide variety of difficulty and interests. Search on "visitwetmountainvalley" for more details.
Getting Around:
This is rural Colorado -- AWD or 4WD vehicles are recommended from November until April. Heavy snows are fairly rare; but, the driveway into this property is a bit steep and shaded. It can be snow-packed or icy during the Winter months.
ATV enthusiasts are welcome to park their trailers on the premises. ATVs may be driven on county roads between the cabin and near-by trails. Other Things to Note:
EXTERIOR CAMERAS: Three video/audio security cameras overlooking the driveway, front deck and the garage/parking area in back of the cabin. These cameras trigger alerts when vehicles appear so we know when you arrive. The one by the front entrance allows two-way communication. All devices are on the exterior of the property and record video and audio.
LOCAL GRASS-FED BEEF: The Wet Mountain Valley is a source for grass-fed beef. Let us know if you want some for your stay or to take home. Prices are set at USDA average wholesale, as much has 60% lower than in retail store on the front range.

Summary: Thank goodness cabins like this exist! A truly special, peaceful place my family loved. We truly didn’t want to leave. Wet Mountain Valley is quietly one of the most beautiful places in Colorado. It’s been 25 years since I’ve visited the Westcliffe area. The running creek brought back many memories of our old cabin just up the valley. My kids played in the stream, panned for gold, collected rocks, and even caught a few trout. We watched a meteor shower, saw elk/deer, watched the hummingbirds, and walked the neighborhood. 10/10 would recommend if you want a peaceful place to stay away from the light and noise of everyday life and just simply enjoy the natural beauty of Colorado.

Summary: Loved everything about our stay! Absolutely amazing house, property and scenery. The pictures can’t capture the true beauty of this house and property. This trip was for my son’s high school graduation celebration. I can honestly say I’ve never heard two 19 year old boys use the word beautiful so often! It’s been along time since our family unplugged from our fast paced life, but thanks to this beautiful house and property we did just that for 7 amazing days! I now truly understand what my grandparents meant when they called different parts of the country “God’s Country”. Thank you for sharing this little piece of heaven with us. We will defiantly be back!

Summary: We stayed for a weekend celebrating my wife’s birthday and we were blown away with how beautiful it was. Very spacious and well taken care of. Opening the windows at night with the breeze and the sound of the fast moving creek was the perfect combination. Host was great at communicating and we wanted for nothing. We will surely stay again.
