Charming loft apartment recently renovated in an 1890's building in the ''Old City'' center of town.
Feel like at home in Montevideo in this spacious, comfortable and very bright apartment just a short walk away from all the important sites.

This space has tall ceilings and 3 large wooden door windows that give way outside to an outstanding veranda with forged iron hand rails from where you can observe neighborhood city life below, or look out to the nearby sea.
A few feet away from the intersection of the 2 main walking streets in the Old City and 2 blocks from the "Rambla" walkway lining the Rio de la Plata. Just a few blocks away from the famous Mercado del Puerto, Plaza Zabala, Plaza Independencia, and other main attractions of the ''Ciudad Vieja". This apartment is located up a flight of marble stairs, on the first floor of one of the old city's architectural heritage buildings.
Decorated in an eclectic / vintage style, with beautiful furniture and various unique objects and art pieces. This apartment features a large kitchen and is fully equipped, in case you chose to ''stay at home'' and cook whatever you please. You may shop at one of the areas many markets or you may buy fresh produce from the traditional street fair near by.

Up a few more stairs you will have access to the terrace, where the magnificent views become inevitable. You will enjoy the sun setting behind the river, the port activities towards one side, with the Fort at the top of the ''Cerro" in the distance, and the city and the emblematic ''Palacio Salvo'' towards the other side.

Ciudad Vieja is a unique place. With a great versatility of people, and a lot of cultural and gastronomical variety to offer.
Looking at a map you can see the Old City is located on a peninsula, which allows us to breathe fresh air from the river and which also offers magnificent views towards all directions.
It is the historical quarter of Montevideo, accounting for the richest and most important architectural heritage of the city. Here you will find a great variety of historic buildings that have been either recycled or excellently conserved. These live side by side with their abandoned counterparts, some in a total state of decay. Photo oportunities are endless!
The apartment is located less than a block away from the city bus stop. From there you may take off to other spots in town. An easy and not too expensive alternative is taking an Uber or a cab. You may also rent a bike and enjoy the 20km of the coast lining ''rambla'' for an unforgetable ride!

Summary: Soledad and Geronimo were superb hosts - helpful in giving tips for restaurants, information about important sites and the architecture and art to see in the city. Marvelous people - so glad we met them. The location of the apartment is exactly where you want to be in Montevideo. The old city is charming and alive with colorful people, shops, excellent coffee houses, bars, and eateries within walking distance. Delightfully sunny, full of light, very clean and well equipped, the apartment is a wonderful collision of art and architecture thanks to Geronimo and Soledad's discerning taste. A wonderful hosts, apartment and city!

Summary: We loved our stay here. Our hosts were fantastic and gave us advice on restaurants and museums. We were able to use their washing machine on the roof terrace and hang our clothes to dry on the clothesline. For a week we felt as though we lived in the neighborhood and got to know grocery stores and the folks hanging out on the street. The area is full of contrasts between unrenovated and renovated buildings with fantastic small places to eat and shop. The only drawback for some might be the fact that the toilet stall is also the shower stall so one has to squeegee down the walls and floor after showering (think bathroom on a boat). We would definitely stay here again. Very clean with good hot water and pressure. The fireplace, for which they supplied wood, was a wonderful luxury.

Summary: We liked it so much we are seriously considering moving to Montevideo. Soledad and Jeronimo's apartment is in the best location, the old city. We walked everywhere, including to the city's number one rated restaurant, one block away. We enjoyed the rambla walks, a free walking tour of the area and just being in a charming city with excellent food, museums and gelato. The apartment is spacious, spotlessly clean and our hosts were just terrific, friendly and answered all our questions. And the roof deck...what a view. Even a water view from the apartment balcony. We really felt like we lived in the beautiful city of Montevideo.

Summary: Owners were very helpful with tips! Apartment adjacent to primary bus route stop so very convenient for access to rest of the city. Apartment also within short walking distance to many food and shopping options.

Summary: The apartment is just as cool as it looks in the ad. The hostess, Soledad, is very kind and helpful with great insight into the city and country at large. The neighborhood is lively and colorful, and very close to the rambla, pedestrian streets, restaurants, plaza, and transit options. The week I spent was happy and comfortable in Soledad's apartment.
