Enjoy spectacular sunsets over the crystal clear waters of the Chippewa National Forest's Lake Wabana nightly from the great room. The fall colors are amazing! The home has a large kitchen with a central island, perfect for entertaining. It also features two fireplaces, two whirlpool baths, wi-fi, two fire pit areas, a washer/dryer, and a deck with a grill. Enjoy a nice dip in the large outdoor hot tub overlooking the lake (see service note). Walk down to the lakefront to enjoy the private 257 feet of sandy lakeshore, a sand beach swimming area perfect for children, a large gathering area, grill, screened-in gazebo, boat dock with a platform area for fishing, and the use of at least one tandem kayak and two paddleboards. Pontoons and motorized fishing boats are easily available for rent just three docks down at Murphy's Landing or from Grand Rapids Marine in Grand Rapids. There are wonderful wooded lakefront locations to pitch a tent for the kids. The first floor and beach access are handicap accessible. There is a convenient lift down to the lake/beach/fire pit area which operates from June to October. The first floor features a full kitchen, 1/2 bath, living room, dining room, laundry, master bedroom, and bathroom. The master bedroom features access to the deck, a fireplace, a king-size adjustable bed, a TV, and a bathroom with a marble-tiled shower and a walk-in tub. The living and dining room features vaulted ceilings, large windows, a large fireplace, access to the deck, and a smartTV for those rainy days.
The second floor has a loft area overlooking the lake. There are two bedrooms on the second floor, each with a queen bed. Four roll-away beds and one pack 'n' play are available to sleep extra people. There is also a newly remodeled bathroom with a whirlpool tub and shower.
Loons, herons, beavers, eagles, and osprey are frequent visitors. Beautiful Lake Wabana is just 13 miles north of Grand Rapids and features over 2100 acres of amazingly clear water with 35 miles of shoreline. The Wabana Chain of Lakes includes access to Blue Water, Trout, and Little Trout lakes (over 5000 acres of water combined) through beautiful access canals. Wabana Lake is perfect for kayaking, canoeing, fishing, tubing, and swimming. Public boat access to Lake Wabana is less than 1/2 mile down the road. The boat dock is available for guests to anchor their boats. The Chippewa National Forest surrounds the property and is ideal for hiking and nature lovers! The docks are typically out from the Friday before Memorial Day through the end of September. Heavenly Hideaway is professionally cleaned, and bedding and towels are professionally laundered between guests utilizing the latest guidelines and standards.
Important Note: This rental includes the first two floors of the lake home. The home also has a basement with a separate entrance that is unavailable for guest use. Occasionally (0-3 days a year), it is used by the owners for emergency maintenance purposes. Also, we had to get a new hot tub recently because the cover was left off after a guest's visit, and the hot tub froze. To prevent that from happening again, we installed a camera to allow us to check the area. There are no cameras inside the house, on the doorbell and to protect the hot tub.

Summary: We have stayed at this beautiful lake home on Lake Wabana four times. As always, we had a wonderful time! We were able to rent a pontoon boat from the resort next to the property and made more special memories!

Summary: Our family including our two kids and their grandpa spent a wonderful week fishing, swimming, and boating at this beautiful property. The layout worked great for us, with days on the lake and a few evenings spent around the fire pit and other (cooler evenings!) watching movies by the fireplace. The shallow beach entry was great for our youngest, who spent afternoons playing in the sand, and the lift down to the lake was a really nice addition for those with a bit less mobility. The room layouts worked well for us, and when our kids struggled sharing a bed with tossing and turning, we were very grateful for the surprisingly comfy (per our 7 year old) rollout bed that made everyone happy and well rested. There were lots of thoughtful additions like this during our stay. A few notes (not critiques!) but just things a family like ours might want to plan for: there are some life jackets, but we were glad we brought our own more mobile ones, especially for the kids that fit well. There also isn’t a specific area to clean fish - I admit as the trip planner this was not on my radar at all and wasn’t an issue for us, but again thought it might be helpful to know as others pack and plan. But back to the highlights: all in all, a beautiful and welcoming home on a clear and stunning lake with thoughtful touches everywhere for a wonderful trip.

Summary: Our family thouroughly enjoyed our week stay here. The location was clean with all the amenities we needed. We seldom left the property as there was so much for the enitire family (of all ages) to do here. Would love to stay here again.

Summary: Overall the property was functional for the 4 adults and 3 grandkids. Beach/lake area is the best feature of the property if that is important. Yes 57 steps down but a lift is available as needed for us grandparents. The deck furniture is uncomfortable/old/musty so we never ate a meal on the deck or even sat around for more than 15 minutes. The electric stove should be replaced with a gas stove for better control of cooking temperatures. Overall would rate the property 7 out of 10 as compared to other rentals we have done in the similar price range.
