3 Bedroom House in Channel Lake, Antioch

Fabulous lakefront home on the Chain O Lakes with 3BED/2BATH in Antioch IL. 1 office on main level and 3 Bedrooms on the 2nd floor. Full bathroom on both levels! Master bed set with bay window over looking the beautiful Lake Marie!! There is also a private fenced in yard with a huge deck 25 feet from lake! There is a 50 foot pier to park your boat on in the summer time. It is a great fully furnished space for a nice getaway. Call my son Kevin Jr or myself after booking. Bookings should be placed a minimum of 48 hours ahead of check in so that our cleaning crew has sufficient time to clean the home.

Summary: Great home with plenty of room and a picturesque backyard. My boyfriend and I stayed here for the weekend and we loved how peaceful the area is, and we definitely plan on returning because Kevin is a great host.

Summary: Pros: Enjoyed our stay, lake views were amazing and the house was plenty big enough -- just needs some TLC. The owner was very nice and responsive; neighbors also very friendly. Cons: Needs overall good cleaning (had to wipe down frig and microwave, cob webs upstairs in bedrooms), replace downstairs tub drain (very rusty and didn't drain while showering), upstairs temperature was SUPER hot (had to run air conditioner really low for hours and ran every fan plus our own), maybe remove the old green carpeting upstairs and replace with vinyl floors, master bedroom ceiling fan missing a screw (seemed dangerous) and the master bedroom blinds didn't work properly; right kitchen sink doesn't drain properly, and the water was very smelly almost the entire stay. A ladder for the dock would be a plus to access the water more easily.

Summary: If you're only looking for a house on the water and don't care about anything else this is your place. There were so many issues with this house its hard to even pick where to start. And I've stayed at tons of rentals from the other rental website plus Vrbo so the issues with this house and the attitude of this house owner were shocking. The only reason we rented this house was because we boat here every summer. And how awesome to get a house on the water with a dock??!! The first issue was the dock. One of us was walking from the house to the boat over the dock and it completely collapsed into the water. Thank god no serious injuries from that. Neighbor comes out and we get dock fixed so we can use it and then go boating for the day. SECOND ISSUE: We get back to the house about 4 hours later and one of the kitchen windows fell out of its frame and shattered every where. I call the owner to let him know and ask what he wants us to do? He then demands that I reenact the situation. Um ok ? Then he starts yelling at me saying we parked in neighbors yard. So this is another major issue. If you plan on bringjng your boat and have more than one vehicle plus boat trailer there is no where to park. He will tell you that you can park anywhere on that street which is a complete lie. Most neighbors have no parking signs by their houses. ... Ok back to window issue. I had to call VRBO before he said he would come next afternoon to take care of window. Before I called them he said what do you care its not hot outside???!!! Continues to gripe about where we parked our truck with boat trailer and then accuses us of hitting the dock with our boat. This guy is a complete nut and could only gaslight me because we had issues with the house. THIRD ISSUE: The house has a horrible smell. The upstairs where the bedrooms are has literally no ventilation and smells like an old dirty cat litter box at night. And not sure if that smell is worse than taking a shower because the water has a completely disgusting mildew metal smell. So like I said at beginning of the review if all you want is a house on the water and dont care about anything else this is your house. The only good things I can say is the view and the neighbors are awesome. The owner of this house is not and even though he fixed the window and dock it was only after accusing us of breaking everything and being a complete jerk. Do not rent this house!!!
