A place to relax and enjoy nature's attractions, on Turangi's most beautiful riverside area in Taupahi Road. This spacious and modernised riverside home is well set up with everything for comfort , so you can relax and recharge or take advantage of all the activities available close by in the Central North Island.Just two minutes walk to world famous fishing pools such as the Breakfast Pool and Major Jones. There is no shortage of local activities with fabulous river and mountain walks, some fantastic bike tracks to suit all levels of rider (2 adult bikes available in garage), hot pools , a lovely golf course 5 mins drive away, ski fields, cafes , including one cafe at the top of our driveway, and restaurants all just minutes away. The Lake is only a 5 minute drive and has a great boat ramp at Tokaanu (10 min drive). River Retreat offers excellent off street parking for cars and is right next door to Brook Mews - another holiday cottage available through bookabach which could also be booked for reunions and large group visits.
Special conditions:
Two night minimum stay, except for long weekends and Christmas holidays. Long weekends have a 3 night minimum stay.
Linen available for additional charge. Portacot, baby bedding and highchair supplied. Smokers must smoke outside (use covered deck) . Cleaning fee of $75 applies.
Well behaved pets OK with prior arrangement.
Extras: Cleaning (Required, NZ$75.00 per stay); Linen (Optional, NZ$60.00 per stay);

Summary: The property was very spacious and very well equipped, in a fabulous location. We loved the quirkinesss of the house, enjoyed the games room in the garage and even had a soak in the "lilac" bath.

Summary: The River Retreat had everything we needed and more. The bikes were great, rode the river trail, the fire place was second to none. We attended a wedding in Turangi and loved the 3 days there. Very handy to numerous places. We would recommend this place to anyone.

Summary: Such a great stay, the house is spacious and clean. The fireplace warms the whole house up. The garden was great for our pup and the games room fun when it was too wet to go out. Good location from the snow and close to the river for fishing.

Summary: Older property, location could not be better. Large living dining, very dated but that is the appeal of this property. Fireplace and plenty of dry firewood which is a massive bonus. We have stayed at this property many times and highly recommend. We will be back. Host very accommodating and easy to get hold of if there is a problem. Also has a fenced grass area which is perfect of you have a dog. Definitely recommend.
