2 Bedroom Cabin in Burley, Shelton

Harstine Island family friendly cabin with one main level private bedroom and a second open loft sleeping area that has two defined spaces. One side of the loft has a queen bed and desk with picture windows. The other side has two full size beds as well as kids books and art supplies.
This cabin is only a five minute walk to a private community beach. This is a very casual walk down sparsely used, campground like roads with 15 mph max speed limit. You'll absolutely love this secluded community and the walkable beaches. Once you arrive, you won't need your vehicle again for the rest of your stay. Park and enjoy the relaxing vibes.
Three adult kayaks and one child sized kayak provided. Kayaks are conveniently located at the community boat launch so you don't have to transport them to the water. Boat launch is an 8 minute walk from the cabin. Paddles are onsite in the shed to be carried to the boat launch site. Life jackets available.
Kayaks are located at the boat launch in spots B26 and B54. Three adult and one kids size.
Adult and kids bikes provided. Adult and kids helmets. Longboard skateboards with land paddle. Radio flyer wagon. Kids scooters. Lawn chairs. Tennis rackets. Kids books and art supplies available in the loft as well.
Enjoy private gated community amenities, such as:
- tennis and pickleball courts
- seasonal swimming pool from Memorial Day to Labor Day (onsite bathroom and changing room with showers)
- club house and playgrounds
- Fire pits at the beach, located on the spit (subject to burn bans)
- Private community beach with covered picnic areas and grills

This 1975 built cabin had plenty of charm, but also has been fully remodeled. Brand new kitchen and bathroom. Everything has been refreshed and updated so you won't have to deal with problems that sometimes come with cabins of this era. In addition to the wood stove (firewood onsite), each downstairs space has wall heaters with temperature settings. The loft has independent temperature controlled space heaters as well. One of our remaining tasks is to replace the single pane windows, but those items help fight off the winter drafts that may try to creep in during the coldest months. Enjoy your stay.

Summary: We had a great visit to the Little Red Chalet! Our kids are early elementary age and this was a perfect community and home for all of us. There were many opportunities to explore outside at North Beach and the community center at the pool or sport courts. We also enjoyed checking out the Wild Felid Sanctuary nearby on the island. Even when it was a chilly day, we had plenty to keep us busy inside with games, toys, and tv. The owners have gone above and beyond in terms of stocking the home with hospitality items too! There aren’t a lot of stores super close by, so plan to buy in Shelton or bring all your groceries and enjoy settling in for a relaxing getaway. It was a cozy landing place for our family of 4–a fun last hurrah before school starts. We are so grateful we discovered this home and community and hope to return again in the future.

Summary: This cabin is immaculate and meticulous. The owners definitely took the time during their remodel to make sure the cabin was warm and welcoming. The community is charming and rustic. The island is a bit isolated as it’s 30 min each way from the closest city. That was a welcoming thing for us, but may not be for everyone. Plenty to do in the community and very safe. If you’re going to explore Olympic National Park, you might want to look elsewhere as it is a healthy drive to most destinations. Overall a wonderful place to stay for a day or a week just 90 minutes from SEA.

Summary: The hosts put so much thought into the property and the amenities. The cabin was fully stocked with the normal items and some happy surprises. They literally thought of everything. The kids area upstairs was cute and had so many things for the kids to play with. The kitchen was excellent, bathroom and living room were great. The shed is full of awesome outdoor toys. The kayaks are a short car ride or easy walk away at the beach. My only suggestion would be to offer more information of things to do in the area. The book in the cabin was awesome, and there could be a couple of pages in their about places to get food, places to fish or where to see the whales, etc. Finally, the next door neighbor is a real gem and incredibly friendly and helfpful and her puppy Bailey is adorable.

Summary: The property was beautiful and had everything we needed! The island was so neat and we saw tons of marine wildlife during our visit. The kids loved all of the toys and snacks! Very friendly and sweet hosts which we very responsive to all of our questions and needs.
