Golden circle! Open year-round for travelers.
A fully modernized charming family owned cottage, located in a beautiful landscape only an hour´s drive from reykjavík.
The cottage is 65 sq. With three bedrooms, each with a double bed (160) and extra bunk beds (80) in one of them. Sleeps 4 -6 people. One bathroom with a shower is in the main house. Fully equipped kitchen. The kitchen, dining area and the living room are an open space. In the living room area is a beautiful fireplace on those cold winter nights. The cottage has a central heating all year round.
There is a terrace in front of the cottage where there is a charcoal grill and garden furniture from where you can enjoy the spectacular views, the midnight sun or the northern lights. On a lower deck you will find a great hot tub that is automatically heated for 8 people to relax. Parking is in front of the cottage for several cars.
Fantastic view over south iceland, Hekla and Eyjafjallajökull.
All the major nature pearls in south iceland - Gullfoss and Geysir, Thingvellir national park, Langjökull glacier, Kerið crater, Friðheimar tomato farm, Laugarvatn village are all in the neighbourhood. Northern lights can often be seen during winter time.
Conveniently located for a day´s trip to Landmannalaugar, Thorsmork, Skógafoss waterfall, Háifoss waterfall, Thjórsárdalur valley, Vatnajökull glacier, Skaftafell national park and jökulsárlón glacier lagoon.
In Laugarvatn village you will find grocery shop, medical service, bank, liquor store, swimming pool, spa, restaurants etc. In Fludir village you can buy fresh vegetables from the green houses in the area as well as the Secret Lagoon, supermarket and liquor store.
Hiking: various paths for short or long walks

Summary: If you're okay with driving, this is a great out-of-the-way spot. Pretty close to Geysir and Gulfoss Falls, and there is a lovely waterfall hike just down the road. There are grocery & liquor stores about 20 minutes away. It's away from the light pollution, so we got to see the Aurora. The main living area is beautiful, and it gets very warm when the sun is out. The hot tub is not great, and there is a chained-up room upstairs that creeped us out a bit. But we stayed there for a few days, and it was lovely.

Summary: The property is in a beautiful setting, convenient to the many Golden Circle attractions. We found the furnishings comfortable and the property clean. We had a few minor issues with the gate, but received prompt help in gaining access.

Summary: I can’t recommend this house more. It’s location is perfect, in the middle of a number of great sites. On our two clear nights we were able to see the northern lights like we never could have imagined and so many stars, we never wanted to go to bed. The owner is so fast to respond and couldn’t have been more helpful and available. It was just my husband and I, but the house can comfortable sleep many more.

Summary: We loved staying at the house! Only to find it was very hard. Maybe a flag with the name near the barrier would help. But the communication and help was great! Would recommend it definitely!

Summary: Fantastic property to stay in for our first visit to the land of fire and ice. We hired a car and stayed here as a family for 8 days and found it very comfortable, very warm all day/night long and spacious. We self catered most nights and had all the amenities we needed to hand. The views from the property were amazing. We had a cosy fire most nights with free logs supplied throughout our stay. We used the hot tub and spent hours chatting amongst the stars and were lucky enough to see the northern lights three times from this property (look north). Fantastic location if the northern lights is something you wish to see, this was one of our highlights of our stay. We did lots of excursions and visited glaciers and the golden circle, secret lagoon, hiked to a thermal river. We also visited South too but it is a bit of a drive so requires some planning ahead as we used to get about 6hours of daylight per day. The local shop is 15mins drive away, so not too far to stock up on food and supplies. Our hosts were available on the phone if we ever needed them. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this property. Thank you kindly for an amazing trip to your beautiful country.

Summary: Beautiful cabin, very spacious! Warm and welcoming, everything you need for a family stay. Amazing hot tub! Super hot, couldn’t turn it down so we had to put snow in it, which added to the fun! No microwave or oven which we didn’t really mind. Definitely recommend this beautiful place!

Summary: the cottage is in a gorgeous rural non comercial area. we stayed during the height of winter so it was very snowy. we struggled finding the cottage but the owner was available on the phone to patiently guide us to the house. the house is a warm and cosy family home. the hot tube was either roasting or a bit too cool but that may have been our lack of experience in managing it. a real beautiful experience for us all, fire on every evening with plenty of fuel at the cottage.

Summary: The cottage is up in the hills with a handful of neighbours. Great views, especially at night (if you like stars!). We went in October and there was some snow, so 4WD / winter tyres essential for getting up/down the lane. Well placed for the major attractions, although everywhere is a bit of a drive.
