Positive: Excellent location for access to beaches and town amenities, shops and restaurants. Reasonable air conditioning but only in the main room.

Negative: Access is via a massive 4 flights of dark and treacherous medieval stairs, limited handrails and very uneven. Getting luggage up these stairs was a challenge, and returning after every excursion was not fun. Stairs are a feature of Menton so we expected to climb. But if we were not very fit and agile (both aged 58) we would have struggled! Definitely not suitable for children or for people with knee or hip issues. The dark, dusty and unwelcoming gate at the front signals the best of the stairs - it gets worse as you ascend. And if you take too long, the timer on the manual light plunges everything into deep darkness. I would be surprised if nobody has fallen down these stairs in the past!

Summary: A basic, unfriendly apartment with a leaky shower and very difficult access.

Positive: the apartment is on the 2nd floor, very well equipped, very convenient, hostess is helpful and kind. we enjoyed the space, two bathrooms, great kitchen, 2 balconies. nicely decorated and very comfortable.

Negative: like many properties in the area, it is on a steep and winding road, not easy to access.
