Travel Purpose: leisure
Positive: The location is excellent. Right in the centre of Tissington village overlooking the lovely duck pond. Great for walks. Very close to Tissington trail. Excellent base for visiting other popular places of interest in the Peak District. The property is quaint and regularly photographed by tourists due to its picturesque location in the village.
Negative: This was our second stay at the property. The first was two years previously. We couldn't help but notice that it is beginning to look tired in places and needs some attention to maintain it to a good standard. We couldn't find any information that is usually provided informing of general information that would be helpful for guests to know. The gas bottle ran out during our visit. No instructions about what to do. Recycling/bins, labels have worn off bins, so it is unclear which bin to put items in. In the bathroom, the hot tap on the sink is very loose. The handle on the toilet flush is damaged. There are no shelves near the bath/shower so nowhere to place shampoo etc. For a quiet new year it was good. No celebrations in the village for new year. The village is pitch black at night at this time of year. A strong torch is essential for late dog walks. Phone signals are very weak at the cottage. We had to walk up the village to phone anyone.
Summary: New year break

Positive: the whole ambiance was lovely, the interiors looked fabulous, location was great
Negative: the shower over the bath .......claw foot bath LOOKED amazing but it moved underfoot when standing in it for shower, the plastic curtains kept the water out but as they were too long they held onto soap and therefore made the floor of the bath very slippy...quite dangerous! the bed was awful, there is enough room for a superking sized bed and it really doesnt cost that much to put a non lumpy mattress on the bed
Summary: looked fanatastic but the devil is in the detail

Travel Purpose: leisure
Positive: Positives: great location; nice outlook; clean and tidy; dish washer tablets provided.
Negative: Negatives: no flexibility with regards to arrival or departure times; no information folder; no parking advice; no hot water on arrival (we did manage to reset boiler each time hot water failed); no welcome tray (tea bags and coffee in caddies but milk and biscuits would have been appreciated); wobbly kitchen table; well-used polyester/cotton bedding; poorly designed bedhead meant you couldn’t sit up in bed; no chair in bedroom; broken picture frame propped up in bedroom; no bathmat to prevent slipping when accessing overhead bath shower; no little extra touches to justify its luxurious/stylish/splendid description
Summary: Had high expectations but accommodation was not 5*

Travel Purpose: leisure
Positive: The peace and quiet, the view, the efficient central heating and the bath !
Negative: Fortunately someone was there to give the key and put it back as there was a very barky and protective dog who was not happy when I tried the gate and I was too scared to open it as it flew at it!
Summary: As good as it gets !
