Positive: This lodge is amazing and offers stunning views over the Fish River Canyon from each single room. It's quiet and if you like nature and stillness, this is the place for you! You can do rim walks on both sides that range from 45-75 minutes that I would recommend doing during sunrise and sunset time. The food is amazing as well, and there is a good vegetarian alternative, as well as a good wine card. When I found out that the wifi was much better in other rooms and told the staff that I need to work and have video calls, they gave me a new room after the first night. Amazing! The best part was that the staff really went the extra mile. On my first morning there, the staff had noticed that one of my tired was losing air. They then found out that a screw was inside of it which makes the air slowly go out. They then changed the wheel of my car, and they even took the broken wheel to seal the whole in the tire that I'd have a backup in case I got another flat on the way back. When I ask what all of this cost me, they said "we're here to help. If you want to give anything, it's up to you but not required". I was completely stunned and very grateful. And then I had the problem that I didn't have the right tool to loosen the screws on my wheel, so the manager lent one to me in case something else happens and then had a courier pick it up in Windhoek at a cafe I was working. I've never experienced this kind of service and am really grateful to the people at Fish River Lodge. I'll definitely come back!

Negative: I had to work on one of the days and the wifi was not that good even in the reception and restaurant. It's good enough or WhatsApp and email, but if you need to work or do video calls, you should be prepared for interruptions.

Negative: The wind that comes up late afternoon is crazy.. and we were given the rooms right in the worst spot of the wind channel. So, make sure you specify not to get rooms 5 or 6.

Positive: This is such a special place. We thoroughly enjoyed our two night stay. Even though it is so remote, the arrival right on the cliff's edge made the long drive so worth it. We loved our cliff walk on the first night to watch the sunset (did this on our own) and loved the guided full day canyon drive which included a swim in the canyons. That really was the highlight with our guide Gordon who was a superstar. Funny and so knowledgable. What is amazing is how they deliver such a luxury experience with limited resources like water, electricity etc.. Food was also good.

Negative: One of the owner's friends was visiting and had to listen to him lecturing the bar staff for losing money by pouring too much wine in each wine glass, while we sat there trying to enjoy our glass of wine!
