Positive: I really enjoyed my stay, it was a completely different experience than other places I've stayed in Japan. The area has a slightly spooky, Alabama-esque feel. Maybe it was becouse of the goat outside my window, maybe the American-style buildings, or maybe, aside from meeting the lovely owners once at check-in, I didn't see a single person during my one-night stay. The room was clean, the bed very comfortable, and the air conditioning worked flawlessly (as did the Wi-Fi) a big plus for the fridge in the room (there are no shops at the area, I recommend buying some sandwiches etc earlier). It was the cheapest option I could find in the area, a bit pricey for the standard, but considering the spooky vibe (which I liked), I can't really complain. My destination was the Kamishikimi Kumanoimasu Shrine, and it was a 30-minute walk. It's about an hour's walk from the train station. It's also a 15-minute walk from the coolest old-school samurai-style restaurant I've ever been to.

Positive: Very cozy room with a really friendly hostess. The hostess prepared a meal for me despite the restaurant being closed. In fact, all the restaurants in the viscinity were closed and it was raining heavily, so that was kind of a life-saver. I was in the area mostly to visit the Kamishikimi Kumanoimasu Shrine, and for that the location is as good as it gets. Buses go from Takamori station to the hotel every hour, but you could also walk (about 3.5 km). Shared bathroom and shower/bath, but I never noticed any of the other guest ( if there were any ). Everything was clean. The only issue was that only a tiny towel was provided. If you can, bring your own. Should be higher rated than it currently is, very nice place with a nice atmosphere.

Negative: No private bath & toilet. Very inconvenient. Dinner over priced. On the 2nd floor, need to carry our luggage up by stairs.
