Summary: What a fantastic spot on the shores of Rice Lake! The yard provides a beautiful setting for meals and visiting, as well as relaxing and reading, or just enjoying the views. The early birds in our group enjoyed the sunrise over the lake and visits from a great heron. A bonus: when the weather turned scorching hot, those views were all available in the comfortable living room. Inside, the house itself is homey. This is not a faceless, corporate vacation rental. This feels like a cottage belonging to a favorite aunt or grandma. Beds are comfy, plenty of quality pillows, and options to arrange as two twins or kings in two of the bedrooms. The kitchen is amply stocked, including spices. There are plenty of towels, both for bathing and beach use. All of the "lake toys" are a real bonus. We loved having access to kayaks, a canoe, and paddle boat to explore Rice Lake. The kitchen is nicely updated for cooking, but you will want to visit some terrific local restaurants. Turtle Lake Tap & Grill and the Duck Inn aren't too far away. We also enjoyed delivery from Gus's Pizza in Whitewater on our first night in town.

Summary: Very well appointed property with exceptional views. The only thing was that being August the water was pretty green. We swam however, and used the kayaks, canoe, and water toys! I would recommend the property.

Summary: The cottage was very clean and well-maintained. Very nice living area to watch movies and play games, and with three bedrooms there was still plenty of room for everyone have their "me" space. It was a very peaceful lake and easy to launch the kayaks in. Enjoyed out stay very much!

Summary: Donna's home is at the end of a cul de sac at the south end of Rice lake, and there's a large wild ravine just south of it so there are only 2 other houses near it which makes it feel set apart and private which we loved. The home is cute and there was enough insulation in the walls that the temperature stayed consistent and the AC worked well even on 95 + degree days. The insulation also meant private conversations could still happen (something that was an issue in another home where every person in the house could hear every squeak or word - I didn’t realize that was important until I stayed at the other place!) I've got arthritic knees & I appreciated that the house has just a few steps to enter and there's only 1 flight of stairs to go upstairs or to the basement. Access to the lake is also pretty flat unlike some other houses that had steep steps to the lakefront. The house has a LOT of waterfront footage and has huge trees that I was concerned might block the view but instead their branches are trimmed high enough to frame the view and the shade was glorious when it got hot! Rice lake is not a super clear lake - there is a green algae that prevents seeing more than a foot under the surface - but there was never an odor and the water was still clean enough to swim or kayak in. The provided kayaks, canoe & supplies were much enjoyed, and we saw turtles, blue & green herons, a beaver, a groundhog, and even a bald eagle! Great views of the sunrise, too.

Summary: Great lake cottage with everything you need to enjoy the lake, comes with a variety of kayaks, canoe, row boat. Beautiful outdoor space with great patio, seating, firepit. Large private lake frontage with dock and gradual shoreline. Lots of things to do a short drive away also.
