Positive: Great little Gîte which is ideal for a short or long stay with exclusive use of a swimming pool which was a great additional touch. Had everything we needed including a dishwasher. Property was easily accessible, hosts were great, communication easy. Car essential. Highly recommend.
Negative: Could do with better clothes hanging space for long items.
Summary: Excellent stay in a traditional but modern Gîte in the heart of Duras.

Positive: We had a fantastic week at la canopee, it is a very special place, very quiet and surrounded by lovely countryside and vines. The gite was very well equipped and comfortable, comfy bed and powerful shower. The pool was fantastic and was great for relaxing afternoons after sightseeing. Our hosts were both friendly and helpful. We will definitely return.

Positive: We loved the quiet, peaceful and private location. The gite was tucked away in its own little world yet it didn’t feel at all remote nor isolated. The nearest town was just a nice distance away and we used it as a base which fulfilled all our needs. It had a small supermarket and patisserie. Sandra is a very intelligent and helpful host. She went far and above to help us, gave us a complimentary bottle of wine from the vineyard next door, a pot of delicious homemade jam and offered to have us shown around the vineyard. She was interesting, fluent in several languages and had a wonderful idea for detail. The gite was furnished and decorated very tastefully which made it pleasant. All crockery and cutlery, kitchen tools etc were quality too. The bed was big and comfortable, the shower was forceful and the swimming pool was superb. We have no hesitation in recommending this gite or host to any discerning traveller. We shall be back.

Positive: The apartment was very quiet in a pretty area overlooking a small valley . Within 5 mins of Duras and20 mins of Eymet where we had most of our meals. The kitchen is well equipped, even had a small cafetière (!) which we used daily. There was a nice pool too but alas the weather was a little cool so we did not use it. The pool is not private and is used by the owners as well who live right next door, but they were also very quiet. A nice apartment.
Negative: The owner does say that the apartment is not suitable for the infirm and that is certainly true. The bedroom is a mezzanine and a creaky staircase is needed to get up and down to the loo overnight. One side of the bed is in the over hanging eaves area of the mezzanine, so one is not able to stand up to one’s full height in that area- 5’5”. One could inadvertently, stand up too quickly and bang one’s head on the roof- guilty as charged🫣. You only ever do that once though….
Summary: Quiet, peaceful, with lots of bird song.
