Summary: We have stayed in this gite more than once over the years. Set in the middle of The Dordogne it has peace and quiet in abundance. Not that its off the beaten track; far from it in fact. At least 2 supermarkets and 1 hypermarket are 20 mins away. The world famous prehistoric sites and town of Les Eyzies-le-Tayac-Sireuil is approx 40 mins away and there's plenty of canoeing and water based activities on the Dordogne river and chateaus in abundance. The gite was well equipped and very clean on arrival. Thanks Sam for the loan of the small frying pan; Sam is very helpful. The gite is spacious and the grounds including the swimming pool is equally spacious, there's even a small wood to walk in. We had great fun feeding our stale bread to the fish in the large pond. Have I mentioned the resident kingfisher? Joy. Sometimes we just sat and listened to the quiet, sometimes we explored the many sites; Chateau Commarque is a must, sometimes we just swam and read. For us as a nature lovers there was plenty to catch our attention in the leat. After such exhausting days we opened the French wine ate some delicious cheese, then watched the sun go down waiting for the owls to hoot; bliss.
