Positive: Beautiful accommodation in a beautiful & peaceful setting, close to the village centre. Very well equipped.

Negative: Access to the property is very steep & although there is parking at the property, it is really too difficult for guests to drive up there. So the property is not really suitable for older people or anyone with mobility issues as it's a very steep (though short) climb, especially with luggage. I am reasonably fit & healthy but I don't think I would have managed if I hadn't been with my daughter.

Summary: Wish we could have stayed longer!

Positive: The location is stunning. A wee village right up in the mountains. The views are brilliant of the valley, both during the day and lit up at night. Everything was lush and green around about. The apartment is located about 100 yards from a high end hotel and spa which we availed ourselves of during our visit. There's a lift up to the main road up the steeeeep hill which is helpful in 40 degree heat. Lots of local shops and restaurants. Locals are all really friendly and put up with we tourists admirably. Many, many, many cats which I only viewed as a delight. The apartment itself was well maintained with big spacious rooms and air con that went like the clappers (just as well). Two separate bedrooms, shower room, kitchen and spacious living area. There is a whole courtyard outside with patio furniture for lazing in the heat or dining outside. The entire area is canopied by a lattice with grape vines overhead to give soothing dappled green shade. Our host was also very tolerant of us turning up in the middle of the night and being unable to figure out the door to get in. Easily reached via phone or messaging through the booking.com app. 10/10 will want to visit again.

Negative: These are less things I didn't like and more things to be aware of; The apartment is 2 hours from Paphos. It's only 40km on the map but the road is a soundwave. It will take you TIME to get there. If there was a quicker route, we never found it. You will need your own transport if you want to get to a decent supermarket or a sizeable town. The roads (path??) up to the property itself is a hairpin turn in even in my hair dryer powered rental car I wasn't sure I could make it. There is parking nearby so that's fine. Accessibility for those less mobile would be quite an issue I think. The inclines for the whole village are incredibly steep. There are ramps/roads but it would be a struggle to propel yourself up or push someone up in a wheelchair. There is the lift from the hotel down the street to the main road mentioned above but that's it. Also, do try to arrive in the daytime so you're not waking your host up in the middle of the night whilst frantically trying to figure out a door with a trick to it in the dark. 😂

Negative: There is a tenant right upstairs from the house. There was no privacy as the entrance to the upstairs house is right in front of the house. Especially the lady from the couple (retired) was way too loud, she was all the time on the phone talking loudly, and additionally was commenting and complaining on everything we did. I don’t know the relationship between the owner and the couple upstairs but they need to sort out their arrangement as the lady did not respect the fact that someone actually paid to stay on the house below. We saw many good reviews that I can only conclude the couple was not staying at the time (this is their holiday house). So if you are going, try to avoid weekends and public holidays. To be clear, her balcony is right on top of the garden, there was absolutely no chance to sit in the garden in peace and quiet when she was there. Huge disappointment as the place is quite nice, but ultimately this should not be a rental, you can find alternative places with the same price that will offer at least some privacy and a respectable “neighbour”.

Positive: the house has a lovely garden with seating, it is very easy to walk around the old village from the house. Parking was OK, but I have a small hatch back car so could park right in the property garden. It was very quiet most of the time. I liked the different selections of coffee and a nespresso machine.

Negative: The beds were a bit saggy and the pillows were not great. Unfortunately on the Sunday morning there were people on the balcony above us who obviously had visitors, it was very loud and noisy sitting in the garden.

Summary: Excellent location, very clean and tidy.

Positive: The view from the veranda was wonderful. Lovely sound of a stream nearby. The heating system worked very well. Many choices for coffee.

Negative: The beds were not great. Some items were missing from the kitchen, like a cooking knife, cutting board, frying pan. I was not able to drive my rental car to the property because the road was too steep.

Summary: My wife and I had a very pleasant stay at Giannoullas. We would come again.
