This gite is part of a typical french farmhouse situated in beautiful, unspoilt countryside, enjoying fantastic views of rolling hills, corn & sunflower fields & a slow pace of life. Ideally situated closeby to the town of Verteillac which has all the necessary amenities for an enjoyable and stressfree holiday. Riberac, Mareuil and Villebois Lavalette are also closeby and offer markets, restaurants and other facilities.
The gite, lying between the owners farmhouse & a beautiful old barn, has been thoughtfully renovated to provide a high standard of accommodation, yet retaining all the rustic charm that you would hope to find at your french holiday home. Inside, amazing oak roof timbers, beautiful stone fireplace, old oak floors, whilst outside thereโ€™s the large courtyard around which the numerous barns & pigeonnier sit, shaded by an old lime tree. The 10m x 5m swimming pool with roman steps has its own enclosed garden and child safety alarm as well as a terrace, sun loungers, BBQ & dining area under a shaded pergola. Thereโ€™s lots of space for the children to run, a play area, 14ft trampoline, table tennis and babyfoot. Summary: What a lovely property. Exactly as we had hoped. Beautiful location and had everything we needed. The hosts were fantastic people and made us feel so welcome also and offering some really good advice on where to go and what to do. There were plenty of places to visit nearby.

Summary: We had a lovely stay with Wendy and Matt. They were friendly, helpful and welcoming. The gite was perfect and with a very well equipped kitchen and comfortable beds and lovely bathroom. The pool was amazing and we enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere. We had a great restful holiday.

Summary: we simply loved it. Mat and Wendy are sweet, sincere people. The house was lovely, spacey and cosy. The pool is nice and private. It is just a magnificent place, especially if you love animals and the outside life.

Summary: We have had a lovely week at Wendy and Mattโ€™s gite, set in a peaceful part of the Dordogne region It has everything you need for a relaxing break in beautiful surroundings. The cottage attached to their gite is comfortable and equipped with everything The swimming pool was perfect for dipping in and cooling off! Wendy and Matt are extremely friendly and helpful and generous I will recommend their cottage to my friends and family Thank you Matt and Wendy

Summary: We had a great two weeks at chez devalon ,sunsets,laughs,beers,building,bees and everything is in abundance ,Wendy ,Matt and family are very welcoming and can not do enough ,everything in the gite is perfect with a great attention to detail ,would definitely stay again ,and good luck to the Meers family with all there ventures in the future

Summary: We asked Wendy to organise the weather for us. It took her 2 days but after that we had warm sunshine day after day. The gite has been renovated and updated with much of the old timber retained. The furnishings fit the style perfectly. We didn't use the mezzanine, but there is plenty of space as long as you can find your way through the roof-beams - fine for children. The shower-room/toilet is recently fitted out and everywhere was bright and clean. The kitchen area has all the equipment needed for your stay and Wendy had provided some basics in the fridge for our arrival. There was a tiny TV which we didn't use. The pool is just the other side of the courtyard with a good space round it for relaxing. We played table tennis in the barn, had breakfast in the courtyard and in the evening walked round the farm and talked to the sheep while watching the sun set over the lovely rolling countryside, listening to the cuckoo and swallows. I borrowed a bike - there is a tandem to hire if you have the inclination. The local area is very rural and quiet. A car is pretty essential for getting around. Wendy and Matt (and their 3 boys) were ideal hosts, knowledgeable about the area, helpful hospitable, unobtrusive.
