Being lovingly rehabilitated by a pair of flea market addicted artists The Generals Quarters is part of the John Pinkerton House. One of Pottsvilles earliest mansions.
Perfect for those who love the romance of old homes and are not looking for a 5 star hotel or an HGTV type experience.
Indulge in an almost Victorian love of maximalism in the formal livingroom. Seat 4 in the moody dinning room that gives a wink at our colonial history. Stretch out in the Asian themed king bedroom with its peony mural or enjoy the serenity and views from the front queen bedroom.
For all the antiques we do have the amenities of Wi-Fi, a full vintage bathroom, powder room and 1930’s vibe kitchen with fridge and top burner use range. And best of all a central location -one block from Yuenglings Brewery and a short walk to our downtown restaurants and attractions. As this is a historic home it is not recommended for children or those who cannot do stairs.

Summary: This property is in the process of being refurbished, so it’s good to know that before staying there, however, if you are a history, buff, or love antiques and collectibles, this is the place for you! Amber has lovingly worked on renovating this property and has done a lovely job of making it fun and kitschy, but also authentic. We enjoyed looking at all of the antiques and collectibles in the house and had a very cozy stay in the Asian inspired bedroom. The bed was very comfortable! Plenty of hot water and towels in the bathroom. The house is also located right across the street from the John O’Hara house, and just down the block from the Yuengling brewery and the downtown area. A few things to note - this is not a place for anyone with a disability or for small children. The stairs are steep getting into the building and also inside the building. There is no handicap entryway, and the bedrooms are located upstairs. Also, parking is street parking and is difficult to find later at night As someone who was born in Pottsville, it’s inspiring to see people trying to bring it back to life and restore some of the amazing history of the town. Staying here made us feel like we were helping to bring back some of that history ourselves.
