Positive: The owner met us at the airport, but did not identify himself as the owner - it was confusing to understand what was happening. But he and his wife were friendly and happy to chat. We felt safe and welcomed. There is a whiteboard at the house with the costs of all local attractions (not including transport costs.) It's good to be aware of prices because you need to arrange local cash (cards not accepted anywhere). The driver is ok (but doesn't act as a tour guide.)
Negative: The owners were not up front with all the costs. Meals were charged just as we were getting in the car to leave on our last day. There was no listed price for any meal at any time. Essentially - come prepared: (bring a head lamp and hand sanitiser), carry enough cash - (more than you expect), and then enjoy a very authentic Vanuatu experience!!!
Summary: The tree house feels very authentic, no electricity and you can hear the volcano every 5 minutes!

Positive: Staying in a treehouse was a very unique experience and we loved it! You can see the volcano from the treehouse balcony. Would recommend staying a few nights so you have the best chance of seeing the volcano in good weather. Philip and his family were lovely hosts and organised some other activities for us, there is a lot to do around the area! We visited some local villages and had the opportunity to talk to people about how they live which was awesome.
Negative: Difficult to charge phone

Positive: Very cool accomodation and Phillip really went out of his way to make sure we had everything we needed. You need to know what you are booking though and have a head for heights/be nimble enough to climb the steep/rickety steps. Definitely the best way to explore the volcano as it’s a rough up to 2 hour drive. Phillip can organise your volcano tour - was around 10,000 Vatu for volcano entrance, 1000 for driver up and 2500 each way for transport to the tree house based on all the above being shared. Not cheap but very much worth it.

Positive: We loooved staying in the tree house. We could see the glowing volcano at night from the balcony. Susan cooked us some lovely meals of what she was able to acquire on the day. Short walk to the gate for the volcano If you need to get up a lot during the night, to go to the toilet at night it might be better for you to stay in their ground bungalow, you can still enjoy seeing the tree house and staying near the volcano!

Positive: We had an absolutely wonderful stay with Phillip and Susanna! The treehouse was like something out of a fairytale and so close to the volcano. Its such a special feeling when the volcano erupts and you feel and hear it so strongly. It truly felt like the real Vanuatu being at one with the locals, such an authentic experience. Thank you!!
Negative: Everything was wonderful! Just be mindful that as it’s a small village, sometimes water and food aren’t readily available (as to be expected in a remote village). We recommend bringing a few snacks and extra drinking water just to be sure.

Positive: Absolutely authentic experience of staying in a tree house. It's not a tourist gimmick, it feels completely real. Additionally, Philipp and his family are very welcoming and went above and beyond to make my time with them even nicer
Negative: Being so close to the volcano, everything was covered in ash. That was uncomfortable, but what else could you expect when you're next to a volcano? This just added to the experience.
