Positive: Mike and Lina are so lovely people. If U stay with Them U get probably the best tanna experience U could Imagine! I felt Like its The Most peaceful place in the entire world. The tree House we stayed in was bloody awesome - U even have a balcony with mount yasur View. The tree House even has its own toilett which i think is pretty cool (never expected that). Everything ist rustic but i think thats the unique Charme about this place. Bed was super comfy with mosquito net. There was no electricity Just to be aware - we Had Powerbanks with us, so No Big issue at all. Furthermore, Mike offered us to Charge gadgets If we would needed. If someone seeking a luxury Resort, U better Go to Bali and Not Vanuatu. We also enjoyed the Food so much. I think Lina is preparing really delicious meals. Once we Had Fish with vegetables, Taro and Rice. I felt Like we are dining Like locals and thats why we Came Here. During the day we spent much time playing with the Dog puppies or Just wandering around and enjoying this magnificent, lush Landscape and the silence. The Tours (volcano, blue cave, custome Village etc) are organized by Mike - so completely stressfree. I would definitely come Back and recommend to stay with Mike and His family!

Positive: We had an amazing stay at Castle Treehouse in the bungalow. The view of Mount Yasur volcano from the deck is incredible and the location is good, right in the heart of the rainforest - it's very peaceful and green. The facilities are basic but comfortable and clean, and Mike and Lina went out of their way to cook delicious meals and provide what we needed for our stay. Mike was great at helping us plan our days and driving us around. We felt well looked after and had a very memorable and special adventure on Tanna. Thanks again Mike - hope to stay again!

Positive: We had a brilliant stay at Mike’s place. It is a very remote spot and felt like such an adventure - particularly the drive from the airport, we were very impressed by Mike’s 4WD abilities on some crazy dirt roads! - and a very authentic Tanna experience. Staying in the treehouse nestled amongst a huge banyan tree was awesome, the views and sounds of Mt Yasur and surrounding jungle were spectacular, and the property and its gardens are gorgeous. Our room was rustic but had everything we needed and kept us nice and dry during some heavy rain. Note there is no electricity but we had good 4G with a Vodafone eSIM and Mike provided us with a lantern to use in the evenings. Mike and Lina were very helpful and hospitable - we got some good advice on the local activities and lifts to & from them, and the meals were simple but tasty. We visited nearby Imaio kastom village, a great educational experience, and went for a 2-3 hour walk to the ash plains which was great fun, fording streams and passing through some of the local villages. Make sure to spend at least 2 nights here so you can have more than one attempt at seeing the lava in Mt Yasur, especially if it has been raining. Overall we loved our time at Castle Treehouse and would highly recommend!

Negative: There was a cheeky rat in our treehouse which chewed up some of our snacks - if you have food with you make sure you store it in a chew-proof container or ask Mike to look after it for you!

Positive: The family are extremely welcoming and kind. Lina made us beautiful meals, which were excellent. We liked being in the treehouse, in the tree canopy, with lovely views of the volcano,and close to the bird life. The river is close by, and we swam there which was good, especially in the heat.

Negative: We needed better preparation. Take more cash than you think you need. We ran out of cash quickly which was stressful, and we thought we had plenty to last us. It is 8000v to climb the volcano, plus transport and it gets pricey.

Positive: Information moving was little difficult before we came, but everything was working. Familiy was very friendly. Very close to volcano and very good view. Transfer worked (took over 2 hours!). Once in a lifetime experience to stay in the tree house.

Negative: I didn't know how much cash I have to take with me. It were solved, but made me nervous. The road to village was auful - experence for one or 2 nights, not sure that I'd like to stay much longer.

Positive: It was nice to stay with a lovely local family. They were very kind and took good care of us.

Negative: I booked the treehouse for the view because i thought high up the view on mount Yasur would be better, but actually the bungalow had a better (amazing) view and it was pretty new with a nice veranda. The treehouse is an adventure and quite an experience, but way more basic and less comfortabel. The price is the same, but If i would return (hope i can some day) than i definately would book the bungalow.

Positive: The property was beautiful. You’re surrounded by lush trees and plants as well as fun chickens and little pigs running around. You also cannot beat the view of Mount Yasur (volcano), especially at night. It was very easy to communicate with Mike and his family throughout our stay and they were very welcoming. Through the accommodation, my husband and I did a cultural tour at the Iatapo village, relaxed at a white sand beach, went to hot springs, and of course, went on an evening volcano tour.

Negative: As many have already said, the property is in the mountains, so don’t be surprised if you see a spider or two.

Positive: The location is amazing! You hear the Volcano and can see the glow at night! We had the opportunity to sleep in the bungalow with a direct view to the Volcano from the bed, the tree house was also amazing with a nice breeze at night PLUS there is a toilet at the top! Really cool and handy at night. From the village we could see the river and dense forest, Mike, family is really welcoming and they will always ensure you are happy and enjoy your stay. Sam was driving us up and down to town and the Volcano, he is a very skilled driver!! Lena and her daughters cooked dinner and ensured we felt comfortable at all times. I will definitely recommend Castle tree house to anyone that wants to experience the village life. We stayed for three nights and highly enjoyed it. TIP: We were not sure if we could get to the Volcano entrance by foot. But you definitely can, it takes about 1h.15min (15 min drive)
