Summary: Staying at this remote cabin made for an enjoyable Virginia Tech weekend! My wife and I were visiting our daughter for Family Weekend at VT. We decided to forgo a hotel and find a space with a kitchen, where we could be away from the long lines at restaurants and other venues that was our experience the previous Family Weekend. Gobbler’s Knob was perfect. At the end of each day, we found ourselves in a peaceful, quiet setting where we could relax. The deck was a perfect setting for coffee to wake up in the morning or wine to wind down in the evening. The cabin had everything that we needed to be comfortable. Though we did not use many of the amenities, like the TV – DVD, or the fireplace or firepit, we can easily imagine these would add to the experience for any visitor. Similarly, we did not visit Gobbler’s Knob solely to get away, or to commune with nature…but we can imagine if would be perfect for those that want to spend a few days alone. Note that this is around an hour from Virginia Tech depending on the traffic in Blacksburg and Christiansburg, but it was a “fast hour”…we never had a feeling of “when are we going to get there?” I would recommend Gobbler’s Knob to any visitor.

Summary: We were a little intimidated by the drive up in the rain, but once we got to Gobbler Knob things were great! Everything we needed was there, it was comfy and clean and when the rain cleared, the deck was fantastic. The view off the deck was the perfect way to start and end the day and it was an easy drive down to Floyd for entertainment, food and exploring. We loved listening to all the birds around the place.

Summary: My family recently returned from our second stay in this peaceful cabin. We made fires, cooked yummy meals and streamed the final 4 NCAA games. We also visited the town of Floyd and had lunch at the country store listening to live music. I was excited to see a bear this time, it was running away along the “front” yard when I stepped outside early one morning to take the dog out. I’ve spent a lot of time in the Appalachians and had never seen a bear before. We needed the R&R and this cabin is perfect for that. We look forward to returning.

Summary: Gobbler Knob is a wonderful rustic cabin. We (myself, husband, and our golden doodle) enjoyed sitting out on the deck taking in the view and the quiet over breakfast or dinner. The cabin was very comfortable for relaxing and had everything that we needed to prepare meals. During our stay we did see a deer and a bear down by the pond. During the day we explored the small neighboring towns, took a drive on the Blue Ridge Parkway and did some antiquing in near by Roanoke.

Summary: It’s tough to summarize how much I loved this property. It is pretty far out there, which is a plus in my book. The view from the deck overlooking the peaceful meadow and pond are amazing. The cabin hits the perfect balance of rustic while being super comfy & cozy. I’m picky and tend to feel uncomfortable in most vacation rentals, but felt at home here. My husband loved the property and was impressed with how well stocked the kitchen is (he is the cook and appreciates having some basic spices & condiments, etc…). My teenagers are seemingly impossible to impress and they both commented on how they enjoyed it as well. We loved that we could bring our dog, as none of us enjoy time away from her. The photos can’t properly convey the overall vibe of the cabin and property. We very much look forward to returning.

Summary: We absolutely loved our stay at Gobbler Knob. The cabin itself was so cozy with a great porch. I love cooking and the kitchen had everything I needed. Checking in and out was seamless and easy, and the cabin guide was thorough and clear. We appreciated special touches such as coffee, snacks and helpful supplies in case you've forgotten something. We didn't forget our toothbrush/toothpaste, but the fact that extras were there certainly didn't go unnoticed. The property itself is beautiful. We enjoyed walking the trails with our two dogs. There was also plenty of space for fetch and, if you have a pup that loves dock diving, they'll enjoy the pond. Very dog friendly. There were also plenty of options for sitting and enjoying the views around the pond. Even if you don't venture into the woods, the open areas are well maintained and nice for a shorter stroll. It's the kind of place you visit and simply don't want to leave. It's so quiet and relaxing. The only noise you really encounter is wind in the trees and birds, and you can't ask for much more than that! Thank you for a fantastic stay. 10/10, we'd come again!

Summary: We had a good time at the house. We were hoping to see Fred and a lot of animal. Didn’t see hardly any critters. That was ok because we had a great time there.

Summary: What a nice relaxing stay at this rustic home in the woods. We had a great Father’s Day weekend with family of 6 and four dogs. The place was clean, organized, well equipped and the property management was very helpful and timely on any questions we had. Thank you again. If we are in the area again we will absolutely return.
