Summary: We had a great trip and Sophie was kind enough to let us have both of our 9 month old lab puppies stay as well. We dubbed the trip “The Dogs’ Vacation” because they had such a great time!!! The back yard was wonderful for them and our 14 year old son. We came during a storm and the trees in the backyard could use some trimming. The house was just like the pictures…I would say a little maintenance would go a long way for this property. But as I told Sophie, the house felt like home and that was key for us. The sun finally came out and we did have a great day at the pool on Saturday. We also took trips to Rhinebeck and Hudson! The weather turned out pretty nice, we only had one night where it was really hot. Window AC units in the bedrooms would be a great add. We cooked almost every night and the appliances were very nice. I’m really glad we booked Sophie’s house and I think it was well priced. We only used two of the four bedrooms but there is plenty of space in this charming house.

Summary: 8 family members from 3 households stayed in this lovely home for 4 nights. So many rooms, we didn’t even use them all! Comfortable furniture in every living room and den. Everyone loved the sauna too. The kitchen and island provided everything we needed to prepare dinners there. The large pool in a beautiful garden wasn’t opening for another week or so when it gets hot, so we would love to go back when we can enjoy that too!

Summary: We enjoyed our stay at this rental. We had 6 family members stay there and had plenty of room for all, including an extra bunk room that could fit more. The house was stocked with enough towels, pillows, and bedding and the kitchen also came fully stocked. We did have trouble maintaining a comfortable temperature in the house as it was actually too warm for us (even though it was 30 outside). Sophie was a great host and very responsive when any questions arose.

Summary: The house is beautiful with plenty of room to come together in small groups or large to re-connect. We loved the cozy, well-appointed kitchen! There was plenty of outdoor space to explore too - next time we'll come back during the summer so we can use the pool!

Summary: Definite pros: large fenced in yard for the dog, country feel, plenty of space for everyone, lots of firewood for evening fires Cons: there were a lot of gnats in the kitchen that also took over a plastic closed container of pastries we brought. Front entry could be cleaned of leaves and be a bit safer.

Summary: We had a nice two-week stay in August. The kids loved the pool and had fun in the playroom. We were also able to explore the area - the winery nearby, short hikes, visit some tourist destinations like the Vanderbilt mansion and Rhineback Aerodome. We had a couple of problems with the pool, but Sophie was very responsive in helping us to address them. The only thing we didn’t realize is that the house is quite close to the road. It is fenced off and very private, however if you’re a light sleeper and there in the summer with the windows open (there is no AC) it can be a bit loud.

Summary: Feel thoroughly rejuvenated after three tranquil nights with family at Sophie and Alex’s house . Well preserved 1700 farmhouse , so warm on arrival , kids loved trampoline, games books and neighboring donkey Willard . We lit the fire each night , loved the restored simplicity and pure nature surrounding this home . Most lovely earthy place , thank you .

Summary: This wonderful old house is tastefully designed while also being welcoming to kids and dogs. The playroom is just for kids and filled with a vast array of toys and fun. Outside is a trampoline, soccer, sleds, a swimming pool behind fencing (out of season for us sadly), a sledding hill...We ate feasts in the lovely dining room, the kids watched cartoons in the second living room, the dogs raced around the big yard...I could go on. A very special place.

Summary: The listing does not do this house justice. The layout is incredible. The kitchen is great. The rooms are large enough for a group of 8 to hang out together yet the house was large enough that all eight of us could have privacy to work/attend school privately on one of the days we were there (with no WiFi issues). The backyard is totally fenced in, so our dogs had a field day running around with one another. I can't say enough good things about this house. Finally, the instructions from the owner were perfect and she was a pleasure to deal with.
