Experience awe and tranquility in an enchanted forest with 18 acres of woods with private trails, a swimming pond and 3 waterfalls. Great for romantic getaways, family trips or remote work.
Only 90 minutes from NYC, immerse yourself in nature in this gorgeous refuge nestled in the woods. The upstairs has soaring 20 foot ceilings and wraparound windows overlooking a pond, waterfall and woods, with a living room, fully equipped kitchenette, bathroom, wood burning stove and desk with a piano. The beautiful open downstairs contains a living room, bedroom, TV and desk. Step outside to an outdoor shower and patio where you can sit and listen to the waterfall cascading just a few feet away.
The queen bed in the bedroom accomodates 2 people. We allow 2 extra guests (4 total) who can set the air mattress up in the the living room upstairs. No parties or loud noise allowed.
Hike the trails, swim in the pond or dunk in the stream that runs through the property, meditate, work out, contemplate life on the dock. Great place also to stargaze at night!
The property sits across from a nature preserve, on a tiny, secluded road, so you are surrounded by trees and wildlife, yet minutes from many quaint towns, restaurants and shops. We are also near farms, hikes, bike trails, wineries, distilleries, historical sites and several leading performing arts centers (Fisher Center at Bard, Vassar, Kaatsbaan) and the Omega Institute.
The Wifi is excellent (fiber optic network) and we have a Generator in case of a power outage.
Guests have full access to and privacy in the Modern Barn and access to the pond, dock and 18 acres of trails on the property. Access to the front yard is restricted to people in our farmhouse which sits on the property (if anyone is in the farmhouse). We (the owners) may be in the farmhouse when you rent the carriage house, but the two houses are distinct and private.

Summary: I would highly recommend this property for couples or small families for a weekend together. The cabin is clean, modern, filled with thought out additions to make your stay special and memorable. The grounds private and beautiful with walks and hikes available for all types of outdoor expertise the host Cheryl was wonderful. Welcoming, informative and available to help or guide you through the stay if anything you need. You won't find a better place and licationthen this one for a weekend away. With Kingston, wineries, distilleries, farms, hikes, and beautiful downtown rhineback close by for a day or evening trip. Thank you Cheryl! We will definitely be back. We loved it!

Summary: My husband and I rented the property during family weekend for our daughter’s boarding school. The property was perfect for two people. It is close to Many attractions and I really enjoyed hiking the property and sitting at the lake. The host were unbelievably kind and helpful! We would definitely stay there again!

Summary: We very much enjoyed our 3-night stay at the converted barn. The space was open and clean, with windows looking out over gardens and forests. The host was helpful and informative. The spot was excellent, with a bucolic setting out your door, including ponds and woodland streams steps away—a perfect place to explore the surrounding towns and attractions or just relax and listen to the frogs and crickets.
