JUST OPENED UP LABOR DAY WEEKEND!
A sweet little cottage right on Cut River and across the street from Burke's Beach. This cottage was built for my grandmother in the 1940's but has been well updated and maintained. It has stayed in the family and has been lovingly cared for by family members.
High tide brings the ocean down the river to your back door where your children can swim, float or kayak and still be within your sight while seated on the back porch or lawn swing. The resident - only beach is only a few minutes walk from the cottage, so close you can hear the surf and feel the breeze.
There are 3 newly renovated bedrooms upstairs, two porches, a living room, with two couches and a recliner, kitchen/dining room and full bath downstairs. Three kayaks are available to use. Plenty of relaxing nooks to read or nap - benches, futon, couches, a hammock, and a very comfy lawn swing. Fully equipped kitchen, with microwave, stove, oven, flat screen television and internet service.
Please note that you will need to bring your own sheets and towels. There are only pillows and comforters on the beds.

Summary: Great cottage actually over the water! 2 minute walk to beautiful Green Harbor beach. Kayaking through the salt marsh. Swimming right off the property. Quiet and peaceful. Definitely recommend and will go back. Thanks Ginny!

Summary: This definately lived up to and exceeded our expectations. An older cottage that reminds of how these places used to look before many were overly renovated. This is a big part of the charm of this house. Still, everything was in very good condition and the beds were very comfortable. The houses are close together here but we barely noticed our neighbors who, when we did, greeted us with a smile. Close access to the beach and a short walk to one of the nicest General Stores where you can sit on the porch with a coffee or, like us, lunch. Just across the water from great food at the Lobster Pound and a short ride to shops, grocery stores and restaurants in nearby Brant Rock. Finally, we felt very welcomed by the owner and would love to return again soon. Of all the VRBO HomeAway places that I’ve stayed at around the world, this is one of my favorites!

Summary: My husband and I, and our 3 and 1 year old daughters, stayed here for a week. It was FABULOUS. The location was unreal. You could kayak directly out from the "basement" at high tide or go swimming in the "back yard" with your little ones. At low tide, you could walk through the "back yard" which became a very small stream to the unbelievably good Lobster Pound diagonally across the way. There is a great general store a 10 minute walk from the house and a great coffee shop with breakfast sandwhiches within 15 minutes. Just take the kids and the stroller and get whatever you need. The house is perfectly situated in the middle of a quiet extremely friendly street halfway between the harbor and a path to the beach. The beach is outstanding for little kids, because it is so shallow for so long, has small waves, and also has the jetty to climb. As for the house itself, it has everything you need. The kitchen was well stocked and there were plenty of fans to keep air moving. Sure, the kids rooms could get pretty hot on hot days, put it always cooled down significantly at night and the "master" bedroom had AC! Also, that back porch, with the windows is just such a lovely spot!! The one and only drawback of the house was that it really is a cottage...meaning the bedrooms on the second floor are all kind of connected..the walls don't go all the way up to the ceiling. But even with our young kids, it didn't cause as big as a problem as we initially feared:)

Summary: Our family, including two grandchildren ages three and five, thoroughly enjoyed our week in this cottage. We were in short walking distance to a beautiful beach, which allowed the kids being able to return to the cottage as needed. The river behind the cottage is an added bonus as we were able to explore that eco system. The cottage, itself, is immaculate with all the necessary amenities needed for a comfortable week. We are looking forward to returning next summer!
