Brimpsfield Cottage | Granary at Hunt Court - sleeps 4 guests in 2 bedrooms

2 Bedroom Cottage in Brimpsfield, Cheltenham

Originally, The Granary was a yellow-brick barn used to house grain. Today, it is beautifully renovated and restored holiday let at the centre of the owners' farm on the outskirts of Cheltenham, close to the village of Shurdington. To either side of the property is a wicker fence surrounding the private patio and courtyard.
The Granary is accessed via Sandy Pluck Lane, a half-mile long, country track, passing open land and neighbouring houses and farms. You will find yourself surrounded by farmland and open country with easy access to walks and beautiful scenery. Guests drive into an immaculately kept courtyard, with the owners' property to one side, The Granary ahead and its parking area to the right. Behind a tall wicker fence is a private garden with a patio, seating and BBQ.
Downstairs, The Granary has a fully equipped kitchen with a separate utility/cloakroom and a large dining-living room, featuring the original beams and fabulous wood burning stove, with a door leading out to the patio and garden. Upstairs are two bedrooms, one furnished with a king-size bed and the other with two 3ft single beds. The two bedrooms share a shower room with a large walk-in shower, toilet and wash basin.
The Granary is ideally located to explore the Central, South and North Cotswolds by car, with easy access to all the major routes and places of interest, including Cheltenham Racecourse (6 miles), Sudeley Castle/Winchcombe (12 miles), Cirencester (14 miles), Bourton-on-the-Water (19 miles), Bibury (20 miles), Stow-on-the-Wold (22 miles) and Burford (25 miles). If you prefer to arrive by train and explore the area on foot or by bike, Cheltenham Spa or Gloucester train stations are just 5 miles from the property. In addition, up to two large stables can be hired, giving guests the opportunity to bring their own horses and explore the beautiful Cotswolds on horseback.

Summary: Absolutely stunning property in a lovely, quiet rural setting. Just a short drive to Cheltenham or Gloucester. Unfortunately we stayed during Storm Bert so were unable to take advantage of the nearby walks, but are planning to return again in the summer. The owner could not be more welcoming. The fresh eggs from the farm hens were delicious.

Summary: Excellent stay! Accommodation was perfect, with all amenities necessary. We especially enjoyed the fire in the evenings. Stephen was really helpful and answered any questions straight away. Location great. We’re a Family of 4 & a dog and had a lovely stay.

Summary: The wood-burner wasn't very efficient at heating the room, hence 4 for comfort above. However the bed was the most comfortable in any cottage we have hired for years, the owners' fields made exercising the dogs the easiest it possibly could be, and the every 10 minute bus service into Cheltenham from the end of the lane was an absolute boon when we both needed to go in and out of town at different times during the day and evening.

Summary: We enjoyed our time in this cottage. All very comfortable and practical. The owner was very friendly and helpful with directions and tips. We enjoyed the quiet location. Chrltenham and Gloucester on the doorstep. The Farm Shop next door has excellent EV charging facilities as well as a nice shop of course. Catching the sun on the patio was very much enjoyed.

Summary: What a warm welcome we all received - us and our dog! The hosts Stephen and Jess are experts at being very available when you need them at the same time never interfering - so we felt really looked after as well as feeling all the independence of holidaying in a separate space. The Granary is beautiful - well equipped, great wifi signal, warm, the shower is pipping hot, the beds comfy, carpeted throughout and the log burner makes the place so cosy (and Stephen lit it for our arrival). We wished the rain might have made walking a little easier as the ground was sodden (you need wellies!), and we wished that there would be have a pub to be able to walk to across the fields...but, there is a farm shop within reach...and frankly those things have nothing to do with the actual property, which we would return to in a heartbeat. And the dog even got to make use of a warm shower outside post walks, so she was happy and we liked having the downstairs utility room to store all the dog and walking gear! We are planning to come back - if this gem isn't fully booked the whole time - thank you so much!

Summary: Great access to the town and activities. Lovely log burner and incredibly welcoming & helpful owner.
Feb 9, 2024 11:07:46 PM
Summary: Our stay at The Granary was perfect. We were moving out of our house and it was so lovely to have such a cosy sanctuary to go back to at the end of busy days. Stephen was so welcoming and helpful. We could not have asked for more. Everything you need is provided. The kitchen is well equipped, the sofas comfortable and the wood burner is fabulous. The bed was comfortable with lovely linen. The Granary is at the end of a long and pretty bumpy lane, and the first time it is a little daunting, but we soon got used to it and looked forward to the views opening out when we got to the property. Stephen was kind enough to let us walk our dogs in his fields, so they loved it too! When we need to stay in Cheltenham again, the Granary would be our first choice. Thank you Stephen.

Summary: We have had a wonderful stay at the Granary. Stephen is a very friendly host, the house is spacious and very comfortable and the location is perfect for exploring the Cotswolds and all its walks. If you are looking for a quiet stay, but not far away from a few big cities, this is the place to be.

Summary: We were welcomed by our host, who was friendly and informative. The house was of a good size and had comfortable sofas and beds. A nice log burner kept us warm and cosy. There was also a large area in which to walk our dogs as well as a small self-contained garden. Just perfect!
