Positive: Despite our late arrival, Mary was most welcoming and treated us like family. The dinner with the family was one of the most memorable parts of our trip and we will happily come again if we are ever in the are again. We were introduced to local foods and drinks and woke up to some cute kittens lying on our terasse in the sun. Even though we only spent one night there, we felt sad leaving.

Positive: Tucked away in Haghpat, just a few minutes walk from the monastery. A secluded and beautifully appointed guest house. Expect to be greeted by Mary with tea and a selection of Armenian cakes on arrival, what a charming and sweet host, nothing is too much trouble. The room is clean and tidy with twin beds. Breakfast was exceptional with a wonderful array of local and home made dishes. I can honestly say it was the best breakfast we ate during our stay in Armenia 🇦🇲

Positive: The stay is comfortable and in a corner of isolated tranquillity. Set up is cosy, but the real winner is the owner (Mary) herself. Great company, great English. Her mother prepares some exquisite local culinary treats. The best welcome tea and breakfast we had in Armenia! AND we were treated to a taste of Mary’s musical skills with a small piano concert. Loved it! And short walk from gorgeous Haghpat monastery complex.

Negative: No signs to get there or to confirm you are at destination but trust your GPS!

Summary: A pearl that added a special family touch to our Haghpat experience. Best host one could wish for

Positive: Mary is a perfect host. Her house is located in a lovely place in the village. The room is nice, very clean and cozy. But most of all it is the meeting with Mary and her mother. Both give everything with a smile. The breakfast is excellent. It is also highly recommended to eat the dinner they cook. Everything is done with giving, and a loving heart. Thank you Mary. I highly recommend staying in their special house. In addition, the house is located relatively close to the beautiful monastery.

Positive: Wow! This isn't just a B&B, it's a destination, a must-have experience. The wonderful host Mary, along with her mother and nephew, welcome you like dear family. The place itself is a delightful little green paradise brimming with history and art. For the curious, there's a small museum on-site where you can learn the fascinating story of the house and its builder. Breakfast and dinner were incredibly delicious and plentiful! It's absolutely a must-visit. I know in my heart I'll be back, and hopefully, I'll get to hear Mary play the piano. While she was practicing for a concert during our stay, and we didn't get a private performance, but the music resonating throughout the property was truly magical.

Negative: The only thing was a bit of a challenge is that it was a bit cold in the room at night, however, the blankets are super warm. We didn't want to bother the hosts in the middle of the night so we just dealt with it, but if you come in Spring (even late spring, like us) ask for a heater or for an extra blanket or bring warm pajamas with you. Other than that, it was just a perfect stay!

Positive: We really enjoyed our stay. If was fantastic, and a lovely experience. Mary was incredibly welcoming. The breakfast was amazing, and we also paid for dinner on both nights and it was superb - a variety of homemade dishes, all freshly made and very very tasty. We ate and ate and kept eating :) The room was good, and a few different places/balconies to sit outside and relax in the sun. It's a few minutes walk from Haghpat monastery. We also did the walk from Haghpat to Sanahin (see Hike Armenia for the route) - a great walk, and then easy to get a short bus ride (or hitchhike, as we did) from Sanahin to Alaverdi, and then get the Alaverdi to Haghpat marshrutka back. Note: guesthouse is only open from April to October

Summary: 10 out of 10! Our favourite stay in Armenia!

Positive: It's a well designed and built romantic little guesthouse in a good location. (We had to share the parking lot with a herd of cows, but we considered that an advantage. You never see that at home anyway.) But unfortunately the house is a bit shabby, neglected, starting to lose its shine. The furnishings in the room are poor. Breakfast was excellent as usual.

Negative: It's time for a little renovation. The romance is still there, but so much comfort is a bit lacking.
