Positive: The best stay in Japan. Aya is a fabulous owner. She travelled so many countries that she knows exactly what is needed to make the place comfortable and equipped with all requiered things. She even had snacks for just incase. She helped us with our luggage - totally unexpected and amazing.

Positive: Guesthouse Trailhead was perfect for a stay along the Kumano Kodo and the space was very comfortable after a long day on the trail. Aya is an absolutely wonderful host, so welcoming and hospitable! She met me at the home within a few minutes of showing up to show me the ins and outs of the home, which was very much appreciated. She has the home very well appointed with a ton of thoughtful little touches throughout. There are restaurants and a couple markets right near by. I'd highly recommend Guesthouse Trailhead to anyone walking the Kumano. Thanks again for the great stay, Aya!

Negative: Honestly, nothing. There wasn't anything that was missing from the property. I ate well in town, slept great in the peaceful space, had breakfast at the guesthouse, and felt refreshed upon returning to the trail. All was great!

Summary: Perfect stop along the Kumano Kodo.

Positive: Key handoff was easy and Aya was really friendly! She highlighted what was open and not nearby, we didn't realize that most restaurants in that area took Wednesdays as their day off which was really helpful to know. We were able to adjust our plan of where we were getting lunch for our hike next day no problem. Best washer dryer I've used in Japan ever. It automatically added in detergent and the dryer was fast and thorough. We could easily wash our hiking clothes and have them fresh and dry for the next day. Super comfortable and convenient, loved it. One of our favorite places we stayed.

Positive: The host met us at the place and gave us a tour of the house and many good suggestions about ShinGu area. Since we are hiking the Kumano trail with heavy bags and next hotel was not far away, he offered to deliver the bags free of charge so that we can have light day hiking. The house is big and comfortable with wash and dry machines. Big living room and sleep rooms are at the 2nd floor. The location is perfect and near the main bus station and close to the trail as well.

Positive: Fantastic location right off the Kumano Kodo with a very comfortable space. Our host is incredibly kind and considerate to create a most comfortable space with all of the amenities a hiker could ask for. My family was very impressed by the space, and greatly appreciated all of the amenities.
