Positive: Last minute booking due to cancelled flight. Lovely, quiet location not far from the centre. Bed was comfy and room was very clean. We had everything we needed.

Positive: When my partner and I travel, we like to stay in cosy places that have character and all the comforts of home - and Hamlyn House ticked all the boxes! From the comfy bed with a gorgeous view, to the thoughtful array of teas and breakfast choices, we wish we could have stayed longer. Thank you so much for the hospitality, we will definitely be back when we visit beautiful Hobart again.

Positive: The owners REALLY took care of me. After checking in first night, I went down hard with Covid, and it was my first experience. They did everything they could to make sure I was ok, had what I needed, offerings of soup, etc, flexible with me having to stay on, checking in with my progress and charged me a reduce rate for the extra days! Genuine, kind, caring hosts. I couldn't say enough about them. It was a quiet location. Loved the unique rooms, with antique furniture look, yet modern, well equipped, communal kitchen, (although no one else was there when I was... just as well.) Personal touches, like apples, yogurt, butter, in the fridge, in your little container. Bread, and a variety of cereal etc, to your disposal. A beautiful view over the quaint garden. My room was spacious, had a beautiful view, and my bathroom was also spacious, modern, big shower, modern conveniences and well equipped with base toiletries. I'd book here again, for its unique experience, (perhaps when safer for communal living,) and because the hosts are right on track for offering and providing this type of accommodation. (Please note: this accommodation is like an old fashioned Bed & Breakfast. You have your room, with 3 others on the same floor. I think 2 have ensuite, and 2 have your own separate bathroom, which you have to exit your room, and cross a short distance, (like 2/3 steps across, in a house,) and a communal kitchen. I love the charm of this, I believe the hosts have considered this, and don't overbook, or fill the rooms, and this would totally suit a family, or group of friends travelling together.)

Negative: Nothing to not like for me!! 😁 I will take the opportunity here to highlight some things others may not like, or could find themselves surprised with. Stairs! Only way in and out of the accommodation. Could prove a challenge for some. Location! I had a car, and was also happy to walk 20min to a shopping centre, and the Botanical Gardens, on slopes. Not for everyone. Shared/communal space. Also, an afterthought... i was only slightly disappointed apon entrance to view an open door into a messed up, vacated room. But with the current climate of "hard to find employee's," it's understandable... perhaps close and lock rooms, regardless of when they can be cleaned, as it wasn't the best visual to be greeted with. 😊

Positive: Lovely old home. Nice kitchen and eating area. Generally very clean, except for dirty carpets in our bedroom. Safe, well-kept neighborhood for walking.

Negative: NO HUMAN CONTACT! We stayed two nights and were the only guests. We never met our hosts. The outside stairs to our second-floor room were very steep. Due to a late flight, we arrived about 10 p.m. Our second floor room was VERY hot. Our window opened, but there was no screen. We texted our host who brought us a fan at midnight. She placed the fan in the hallway and left. We received a text telling us the fan was there. Breakfast was bread, cereals and yogurt for us to prepare. The entire experience was more like staying in an expensive hostel rather than the typical personal and friendly B&B.
