No busy street between you and the water, no noisy bar
next door, not musty-this bright, airy, roomy, clean and luxurious
setting is exactly what you are looking for. Well over $500,000.00
has been invested to provide you all the top drawer features of a
high end vacation home.
Situated on nearly two acres, you can enjoy the water view and sunsets
from the air conditioned comfort of the house, from the deck, or
from the platform at the end of the dock.
Why have a $4500.00 plus monthly second home mortgage payment when
you can just pick and choose the time you need, and pay for only
that time...
A typical day: Wake up in the all new second floor master bedroom. Check out the water view in the 8 foot bay window. Its early, grab a wetsuit sand snorkel and pull one of the kids to join you to go in, its really clear in the morning.
Return to breakfast sizzling in the kitchen, then its sunning on the deck. Too much sun? Crank out the rollup awning.
Maybe take a boat out to go to lunch or catch some fish. Or use the paddleboards, or watch the grandkids on the new playscape.
Take a walk to the park, bring your tennis racquet, and watch the kids on the swings. Take a drive downtown and go to the penny candy store, check out the restaurant and the carry out food at the general store.
There is pan fishing off the dock or in the canals that run next to the main road. A breakfast visit to the Schoolhouse Grille, or for any meal, is fantastic.
A trip to the little downtown can result in penny candy and souvenirs, ice cream cones, prepared food from the Market, or a meal at San Souci. Pizza is great from either place.
It generally doesn't rain for days on end like Norther Michigan, if you do get a rainy day, just go bowling, to a movie, or shopping on the mainland.
At night, have a gas fire on the porch, and when the mosquitos slow down, build a wood fire in the yard.
If it gets cool, build a fire in the stone fireplace inside. When its time to turn in, enjoy the electric fireplace in your room for an ambience boost.
All easy, relaxing, and nice.

Summary: Great property, great host!
Jul 13, 2017 12:56:35 PM
Summary: First off, the size of everything is impressive-the land is big, the house is big, the deck is big, and the frontage is substantial. Everything is well kept and the owner responds to texts immediately with any concerns. The rooms are comfortable, the mattresses and bedding are all excellent quality, and the layout and design is very unique as a vacation rental-the kids love the lofts, and the teenagers can stay up and close off the family room so the rest of us can sleep. Everything is like a regular home-city water, central air, modern kitchen, so that was all nice. The AC works well. The front porch is a nice escape from all the ruckus in the backyard. The water is high this year and the shoreline is mucky but the dock goes out far enough to where the bottom is hard so that was not a problem for us. There is plenty of dockage, deepwater to dive and swim, a fish cleaning station with a stainless table, hose, and light, plenty of TV channels, plenty of parking for guests, and boat trailers, and lots of privacy. We will be back for sure.

Summary: Our group came down to the island from Kettering University to get a bit of a break after our midterms. The property was exactly what we needed! Unfortunately, it was pretty wet all weekend, so we didn't get to enjoy many of the outdoor amenities, but the house as a whole was great, and wandering the island once it stopped raining was a lot of fun. The 18 guys that we had out was probably slightly too many for the property, especially being stuck inside for so much of the weekend, but if we have less folks interested when go out on retreat again next fall, this property will definitely be on our list.

Summary: Talk about privacy, relaxing & eating on a large comfortable deck, boating, this place has it all!!! Love the view from the great room and the deck, and watching the parade of boats going by. We had 2 boats (21 ft and 20 ft)tied up to the dock and had room to spare. The owner is great to work with and was very helpful when a storm took the power out for 9 hours the first night we were there. We highly recommend this rental and hope to come back next year!

Summary: Everything was exactly as stated. What a beautiful home. It's as if you don't have any neighbors. With all the shade trees you feel and really are completely secluded. Lake St. Clair is known for it's smallmouth bass and wow are they fun to catch. You could spend the summer at this place and never run out things to do. Owner was great and very easy to work with. The pier is over 100 yards long and it takes you out past the sandy beach to deeper water which was a plus for those bringing up boats. There is a line of reeds 30 yards past the pier and it really knocks down all the waves coming in from the bigger boats going down the channel and really helps protect the boats from banging the pier. There's just nothing negative about this home. Big, well decorated, nice comfortable beds and everything you need for a great time.

Summary: The owner is very nice and professional. The house is fully furnished and has plenty of sleeping room. It's by far the best house I've rented on the island. The dock is in deep water and the boat parking is proper for a 30' formula without issue. 10' of water at the end of the dock makes for perfect diving and flips without hitting the bottom. The beds are all comfortable, and the kitchen is perfect for getaways or longer stays. Flat screen TV in the main living room worked great. The neighbors are quiet and respectful, I got along perfectly with everyone.

Summary: Thank you Donn we had a great time! We swam, fished, played games, and enjoyed the the home and the deck as much as we could. The pictures don't do the home justice. It has everything you need. We took many great pictures. Thanks Don. The Baker Family

Summary: An excellent all round experience! The house is lovely, clean and updated nicely. The property sits right on the shore and there is very easy access to the water and dock. The owner is great -- very accommodating, flexible and easy to work with. Stayed there with my husband and four kids, endless things to do for the kids to amuse themselves outside. Though it was winter, we could see the nice sandy beach right in front of the house, with shallow water for small kids to gradually wade in. We had a great bonfire at the fire pit on the beach too. Home is well equipped with everything you'll need and very centrally located. Ferry access is easy, there is a local grocery open nearby and prices were actually pretty good. We took a quick trip back to the mainland too, which was easy and quick -- there is a large Kroger just minutes from the ferry. Would strongly recommend.

Summary: We highly recommend this rental. Our family has rented this home for a week each summer for the past several years. It is clean, spacious, comfortable, well-equipped and easily accomodates a large family. We've hosted a one-day family reunion each year with plenty of space for about 20-25 people. The owner is great -- flexible and responsive. It is easy to get there and easy living once you arrive. You can pick up groceries before boarding the ferry -- there is a supermarket very near the dock. There are also a couple of stores on the island where you can buy food and supplies but the selection is limited and the prices can be high. A former school on Harsens Island had been converted to a restaurant and we had a terrific Sunday breakfast there last year. Bottom line: Harsens Island is a wonderful getaway if you're looking for a place to relax and rejuvenate and this home is an excellent spot to do it. Although Harsens Island is easily accessible from Metro Detroit, it feels like you've left all of life's stresses behind as soon as you board the ferry. Once on the island, you can do as little or as much as you please, be it enjoying the water from a comfortable chair under a shady tree, wandering into the town of Sans Souci or using the house as a base for day trips to Port Huron or other nearby towns. Last year, we took a boat tour from Port Huron into the St. Clair River and up into Lake Huron. But we spent most afternoons at the house watching boaters and wildlife, reading and napping. We're looking forward to another great week this year.
