Summary: We had a wonderful week at this rustic home. The owner was so great to work with & was right there on his phone to answer questions & help in any way. The setting is lovely. It is the heart of the Adirondacks so there’s lots of hiking & kayaking. Very friendly people at the businesses nearby. We felt like we had a real taste of all that makes the ADKs so special.

Summary: This is a great historic cabin with a beautiful view. It's a great base camp for Adirondack explorations, and also cozy enough for cold and/or rainy days. All the amenities, but without over-the-top frill. Ernie is a great host - and cares about the place and wants people to have a good time. Highly recommend.

Summary: We stayed for the week and once we arrived we noticed how clean the place was and also how authentic the cabin was. It’s pretty cool looking. We spent most of our days on that porch overlooking the lake and mountains. I swear that lake spoke to me. Just sitting with everyone in silence looking out. This was my first vrbo experience along with first camping experience. I was pleased. Ernie definitely made us feel at home and was great at communication. He made us feel part of the family. Thank you Ernie!!

Summary: May 2021 This cabin was the perfect mountain getaway for our family. The cabin itself is charming and comfortable, with authentic ADK ambiance and history throughout. The views are breathtaking, and the property offers the right mix of privacy and accessibility, including beach access to Lake Harris. We hiked, kayaked, and explored, but we also found ourselves unable to resist some peaceful cabin time around the fireplace, too. On top of it all, the owner's enthusiastic love of his cabin was the highlight of our experience; communication was a joy, every thoughtful comfort provided, questions answered quickly and thoroughly, and needs anticipated at every turn. Each member of our family expressed throughout the weekend that we need to come back to this cabin, and we are eagerly planning our next visit!

Summary: Our family of four stayed at this beautiful home and property for a week and enjoyed every minute! First- the home is a 1914 summer cabin that has been modernized to a 4 season home- it retains all the character and GORGEOUS wood/stone work of the original ADK summer home, but has been modernized such that it has all our creature comforts (cozy beds, hot showers, WiFi, washer/dryer, and bountiful cozy quilts and throws). The kitchen has all the silverware/plate ware/pots/pans/basic spices that you need plus there is a very nice gas grill for grilling. Second- the view from the upstairs windows, living room, front porch and front yard; all overlooking Lake Harris is spectacular. It was so peaceful and restorative to spend a week soaking in that view. Third- the property is perched up from the road so you have total privacy, there is some traffic noise, but you have a large surrounding yard to enjoy completely out of sight of others. Fourth- There is so much to do in Newcomb! We rented kayaks, bikes, and paddle boards (on different days) from the Cloudsplitters Outfitters- about a 1/2 mile walk down the road. You can access Lake Harris either by pushing in at the rental place, go to the public beach (with swimming/playground/ picnic areas), or use the small private beach that accompanies this property- which is a nice sandy beach. There are also so many mountains, from large to small, to hike, and plenty of swimming holes. There is also the Santanoni Preserve which is downright amazing! There is a delicious restaurant right across the street with a lovely big deck overlooking the Lake. Finally- Ernie, the owner of this property, is beyond helpful and is very responsive. This property has been in his family for nearly a century and it is an incredibly well-cared for property. We hope to return to this special place.
