Positive: Location in the heart of Zurich, walking distance to all sights and famous places. Easy key transfer.
Negative: Extremely noisy! Can't sleep with open window, main street below. Third floor with no elevator. Missing equipement: glasses, spoons etc. One can't actually sit at the table because the distance to the wall is too narrow. Host did not reply to our questions on booking. Chairs were old and ripped.
Summary: Perfect location but very noisy.

Negative: Right after booking, I immediately realized that although the base rental fee was low, there was some small print about a cleaning fee that more than doubled the cost of the room. This might make sense for an extended stay, but we were only staying 1 night. I immediately sent a message explaining the situation and asking to cancel the reservation. A week went by with no response. The day before the reservation, I reached out again to ask to cancel. The owner finally responded that they would not allow me to cancel the reservation. The room was just okay, nothing special, and at the price I paid for 1 night I'm sure I could have stayed somewhere much nicer. Poor communication and customer service. Also, getting luggage up to the top floor in the summer heat without an elevator after traveling is a bit tough.

Positive: The host was very responsive and helpful. Check-in and check-out was very easy. The apartment is located within a 3-minute walk from Bellevue, which is one of the main squares in Zurich - super convenient.
Negative: The room is relatively small and very simple; the price felt relatively steep considering for what you get overall. Didn't appreciate that the "cleaning fee" wasn't communicated transparently in the booking process from the beginning, but added at the end in a non-obvious manner.
Summary: Decent alternative to a hotel if you value a central location

Positive: The apartment is in a great location, a few minutes by foot from the river and the lake, close to shops and city center in general. The room was clean with a TV (good when it's UEFA EURO on TV). It also had nice kitchen facilities, all the utensils you need.
Negative: The room is nice but packed and there's no shelving. We had to put all our stuff on the window sill, table and floor. It would be really great if the owner could install some shelves for storing your items. Also the apartment building is right next to a really frequented road on the hill which meant all the fancy expensive cars with loud engines, trucks and buses were zooming past so loudly, it was a little annoying at night or early morning.
