Heartwood Farm Cottage sits by the Holston River bend near historic Alvarado Station and park. It is also directly on the Virginia Creeper trail by trestle 13; 5 miles to Damascus; 10 miles to historic Abingdon; and 2 miles to Abingdon Vineyard! Guests may enjoy the historic barn, fire pit and deck overlooking the river or hike up the hill on Heartwood Farm and enjoy panoramic views of White Top and Mount Rogers. Immerse yourself in nature with the songs of the river and all the beauty SWVA.
Cozy home with a large front porch overlooking the river. We rent this as a two and three bedroom based on your needs. There is access to the river for tubing, kayaking or fly fishing ! Equipment not currently included but can be purchased or rented nearby. We have 4 Kayaks available for rent $35 each per day.
We have 4 medium frame Schwinn courtesy bikes available to ride the trail right from the backyard! Bike shops abound for additional needs.
Please call or text about pet needs. We may make some exceptions with an additional $50 per day cleaning fee ($150 minimum)
Holston Lake, Greyson Highlands, The Channels, S Holston River Dam, Bristol Caverns and much more all nearby
Day trips to Watauga Lake TN, Boone & Ashville, NC and many other attractions in this area within an hour or two.

Summary: Kids enjoyed playing in the barn. Jumping on the creeper trail anytime we wanted was great! Kids played in the creek too. Creek is across the street so watch for traffic. Lynn, one of the owners, was super helpful with kayak and bikes. Bikes were nice. Kitchen well stocked.

Summary: This property was well past our expectations. Clean, very spacious, and perfect location. My partner and friends and I spent the weekend here for the Dam Yeti race. The property is right on the Virginia Creeper trail so we got to cheer for our racers as they ran by. The whole farm is just beautiful. Also perfect views of the river in front of the property. We will definitely stay again.

Summary: We had an amazing time at this property. Our kids loved the nature around us and of course the bikes. We all went walking and enjoyed the river. Hands down I will recommend this property to all.

Summary: Our family loved Heartwood Farm. If you love biking, water and most of all SMORES this is the place for you! The house was immaculate and very roomy. My grandson is visually impaired and was able to navigate easily. My granddaughter is a teenager and had her space😬. The decor is lovely and makes it feel comfy. We had one concern that was addressed immediately. We hope to make this a yearly tradition.

Summary: We have stayed at this property before and we're happy to return. Everything is clean and well cared for, with lots of clean towels and comfortable beds. We enjoyed the outdoor areas, both the front porch and the deck by the barn overlooking the river. Lots of space indoors for families to relax and kids to play games.
