Heartwood Farm Cottage sits by the Holston River bend near historic Alvarado Station and park. It is also directly on the Virginia Creeper trail by trestle 13; 5 miles to Damascus; 10 miles to historic Abingdon; and 2 miles to Abingdon Vineyard! Guests may enjoy the historic barn, fire pit and deck overlooking the river or hike up the hill on Heartwood Farm and enjoy panoramic views of White Top and Mount Rogers. Immerse yourself in nature with the songs of the river and all the beauty SWVA.
Cozy home with a large front porch overlooking the river. We rent this as a two and three bedroom based on your needs. There is access to the river for tubing, kayaking or fly fishing ! Equipment not currently included but can be purchased or rented nearby. We have 4 Kayaks available for rent $35 each per day.
We have 4 medium frame Schwinn courtesy bikes available to ride the trail right from the backyard! Bike shops abound for additional needs.
Please call or text about pet needs. We may make some exceptions with an additional $50 per day cleaning fee ($150 minimum)

Summary: My husband, myself, and another couple stayed four days at The Heartwood Farm Cottage and we just loved everything about it, the location was perfect. In-between Damascus and Abingdon it was right on the trail so one morning we peddled our bikes to Damascus and got a lift up to White Top and then the next day we went in the other direction and rode into Abingdon. The house was perfect for us. There was only one master suite but there is a barn door that can close off the other two bedroom and bathroom and that gave us a whole other suite. The house was so cosy and clean and we had all the acres to explore there as well. The barn, fire pit, grill, river and property were all terrific. We highly recommend Heartwood Farm Cottage.

Summary: This place was fabulous! 1/2 way between Damascus and Abingdon and 10 feet from the trail itself. They have bikes for you to use too. If you're not a biker, just walk 20 feet on the other side of the place and you're in the river! they even had great kayaks (rent). The property is large. there is a nice deck overlooking the river and a great fire pit....great fire pit. Also a way to climb up the mountain behind the house and see the sunrise. Let me say that the house was very comfortable. The Bed was great. ( and a huge double sink bathroom off of the King room.) Lots of very nice furniture in the home and several very comfortable couches and chairs. Maria and Lynn are super hosts. Very helpful folks. Please don't write this place off because it is a double wide. It did not feel like one at all on the inside. GREAT place.

Summary: This was a clean, nice house in a very quiet pretty area. The creeper trail is literally feet from the back door. The river is across the very small, quiet street which is practically in the front yard. Just sitting on the porch was awesome due to the sounds of the river. The barn, deck, lights, firepit all were nice for the kids and smores. We used the bikes to ride 2 mins to Alvarado station and beyond the big train trestle over teh river and into the fields toward Abingdon. Great for a quiet weekend getaway.

Summary: We had such an amazing time on this beautiful property. It was the perfect spot for our race and for once I could actually sleep the night before a run. We can’t wait to come back and bring the family.

Summary: The listing says The Cottage. We were surprised to see that this is actually a Mobile Home that has a added on front porch and garage. Getting past that we loved our stay. place is clean, spacious,great location. The river view from the front porch is fantastic and the river is loud flowing. the property is fantastic overall and the Barn, firepit area is awesome. About 60 feet out the backdoor is the creeper trail. I would recommend staying here

Summary: This is absolutely the best vacation rental we've experienced! That's why we came back for the second year in a row! The location is perfect, the house has everything for any group size, the river is gorgeous and the Creeper Trail right there! What more could anyone want? The hosts are lovely people and easy to communicate with. If you want restaurants and shopping, Abingdon and Damascus are just minutes away -- and Abingdon Vineyards is just around the corner!
