Positive: This homestay has stunning views of the rice fields and is set in a tranquil, natural environment. It's run by a warm and welcoming local family (and there is also a wonderful, friendly dog), which made our stay especially comfortable and inviting. Our host Ly, her husband De, and the whole family, were friendly and attentive—she arranged a memorable rice planting activity, helped us find a transfer back to Hanoi, and was always ready to assist with anything we needed. The meals were outstanding: hearty, home-cooked, and full of flavor. Keep in mind, it’s a rural homestay: everything is as clean and comfortable as it can be considering the immersion in nature, but don’t expect luxury, and be prepared for a few bugs here and there. A fantastic choice for anyone wanting an authentic experience of Hmong culture and the surrounding landscape. By far, the best part of our 2-weeks trip in Vietnam.

Positive: Breakfast and dinner were superb. The bungalows were cosy and the beds were comfortable. Ze and Ly were such good hosts and their children were adorable. We learnt a lot about the Hmong culture during our stay.
Negative: Nothing. The stay was amazing.

Negative: As others have noted as expected the bed was rather firm but as suggested by our hosts we put the doona under us and it was fine. All part of the experience.

Positive: We had a large, home cooked breakfast each morning with variations each day. We opted to eat dinner there as well and not only were the portions large and delicious, the hosts interacted with us and introduced us to their ‘happy water’. We had a huge detached bungalow with an ensuite that overlooked the rice terraces. We enjoyed a beer on the verandah each afternoon. I did a half day trek with a guide, Jacob, who spoke excellent English and explained a lot about the local farming and cultural traditions.

Positive: Exceptional homestay - the rooms are nice and spacious and have a cute little terrace. The homestay has great views over the rice terraces. The family running the homestay is nothing short of amazing - they are incredibly welcoming and helpful organising treks, activities or transport. The food is mostly homegrown and very delicious. Couldn’t recommend it more!

Positive: Very cute and typical property ! Bed is very confortable Hosts are really kind, helpful and joyful !!! (I hope one day I’ll make a trail with you 🙌) The whole journey hanging in the reefs by motorcycle with our guide was really great 👍🏼
Negative: The facilities are a bit roots speaking about the shower. As we were staying in a hut 🛖 any kind of bugs food come in (I had to deal with 3 cockroaches 🪳 lol) and it can be a bit cold depending on the weather outside that’s fine by me but that might scare some people (like my Vietnamese girl 🫢) As there is a mosquito curtain you are basically safe to sleep 😴 Also you can make a fire inside the hut on order to stay warm (you don’t need it once you are in the confortable bed sheets) My biggest disappointments : - the towels as they smell really bad and were not really good at their job. - the breakfast was not really a "typical" Hmong one, it was much more like an Occidental one Maybe you can offer an activity regarding cooking breakfast ? ☺️

Positive: The host picked us up at 2 am in the night when our bus arrived, which is really great. The view from the bungalows was really nice. We were helped with organizing a driver to Bac Ha.
Negative: I don't know it's normal for homestays in North Vietnam, but staying in a room without heating in winter is really uncomfortable. Also the bungalow was not tight, so cold air could come inside. The water during showering was hot only for 10 minutes and then it got cold, the sink outlet let the water flow on the floor which made you stand in water if letting water flow for a longer time. The breakfast was very very basic, on first day a simple pancake and on the other just bread with syrup and fried eggs with soy sauce. Plus coffee, tea and mango. We often read about having dinner with the family when you stay in a homestay, but here it seems it's not part of the concept, we just got our food to eat while the family was eating at other tables and did not pay attention to us. We expected to experience the local culture and get to know the family, but our experience was just a cold place with no comfort. Sad but true.
