Peninsula House | Hidden Gem in the Valley!

4 Bedroom House in Peninsula

This beautifully renovated 1874 Colonial is located in historic Peninsula and offers the best of the past and the present. We are nestled deep in the heart of the scenic Cuyahoga Valley National Park, which means the serenity and grandeur of nature is right at your doorstep!
Upon arrival, open the french doors of "The Blue Hen” and walk into the double parlor of this charming retreat. Select one of the uniquely beautiful, specially designed bedrooms - each with their own private, modern bathrooms - for your stay. Utilize the full kitchen to prepare home cooked meals and enjoy them in the elegant dining room or out on the veranda shaded by wisteria flowers. Enjoy a picnic outside on the grounds or relax in one of the soft leather armchairs in the sitting room and play one of our board games with family and friends. Settle in for the evening and select a good book from the Inn’s collection, or surf the web or watch a little television.
You will find every room in The Blue Hen, including all four bathrooms and kitchen, impeccably clean and sanitary, professionally cleaned after every guest.
In the morning, stroll right down the sidewalk to downtown Peninsula and explore this quintessential “one stoplight town”. After you hike the trails, bike the towpath (bike rental right in town), or ski at Boston Mills to your hearts content, take in some live music at the intimate GAR music hall. In the morning, enjoy a tasty breakfast, lunch or dinner at Fisher’s Cafe, take an art class at the Peninsula Art Academy, check out the unique shops in town (including our fav the gourmet popcorn shop), and wrap up your day enjoying a craft beer and wings at the Winking Lizard.
WE’RE IN THE MIDDLE OF EVERYTHING!!
Even more options await you a short drive or Uber away. Head west and within a 10 minute drive you will find a Buddhist, Sikh, and Hindu Temple. Visit all three to find inner peace and a spiritual calm to balm your hectic daily life. Stop at Country Made Ice Cream for the best ice cream anywhere, or take a quick dip in The Quarry, a unique, natural swimming hole right down the road from The Blue Hen.
Go east and in 10 minutes you will be in the town of Hudson, which has excellent renowned restaurants, a Heinens grocery store, and a wide variety of shops. You will find everything from women’s high fashion clothing to a charming old bookstore to a classic board games shop. You will also find a gastric pub and an exceptional wine cellar restaurant.
Drive north and in two miles you will be able to enjoy skiing, snowboarding, and tubing at Boston Mills / Brandywine Ski Resort.
Head south and in 12 minutes you will find Hale Farm and Village, as well as Blossom Music Center where you can hear a variety of musical artists, including the world renowned Cleveland Orchestra. Drive a little further to experience the impressive Stan Hewet hall.
Peninsula is truly a destination you will want to explore year after year, and we hope that you will allow us to host your amazing experience in the Valley!
Please Note: The Blue Hen is strictly an inn - not a bed and breakfast. As such, you will always find plenty of complimentary coffee, tea and condiments in the kitchen, but we do not serve breakfast.
Please note: WE DO NOT ALLOW WEDDINGS OR PARTIES, though small, sedate family and friend gatherings are certainly welcome.

Summary: Great property and accommodations. Historic house with perfect furnishings for a good stay. Kitchen is well equipped, sitting rooms are comfortable and the bedding is lovely. The outdoor patio provides a nice eating and entertainment area, and it was great to sit on the front porch swing and watch busy people pass by! There is ample parking and a nice yard. The location is perfect for visiting the Cuyahoga Valley National Park, only a couple of miles to the Boston Mill area and Hines Hill Conference Area. A Wonderful Visit - nice accommodations, good area, and outstanding family gathering.

Summary: We had a lovely visit. Came with my daughters and their friends to see a concert at Blossom Music Center. Also did some hiking. A GREAT location for everything. Lots of space for quiet time and community space for playing games and meals. Had some serious storms during our stay and were thankful for the generator that kept the fridge and AC on. Excellent and attentive hosts.

Summary: If I could give this place six stars for location, I would. Smack dab in the center of the park, so it was super quick/easy to get to hikes. Very short walk (on a sidewalk) to the train depot, towpath access, coffee shop and two restaurants. The house itself had a spacious backyard and porch, which was perfect for eating outside (and for kids to run around). We loved that the dining room table was actually big enough to hold our entire group, so we could eat together - that's rare for our party of 10! The kitchen had all the usual stuff - coffee maker, toaster, mixing bowls, measuring cups, pots & pans, colander, baking sheets, cutting boards, vegetable peeler, can opener, plenty of dishes, etc. There is one bedroom suite downstairs with washer/dryer, plus three more bedrooms upstairs. Every bedroom has its own en suite bathroom, which was really nice. There was a cot in a downstairs closet, which we didn't use. We would absolutely stay here again if we return to Cuyahoga Valley. Definitely recommend!

Summary: Three of our group were international visitors. They loved the authentic Americana vibe of the house and surrounding areas. There were lovely decorative accents (eg. antique pictures of the area, framed needlepoint) Four well appointed bedrooms with bathrooms was a huge plus for our group of 5. Plenty of space for gathering together and private chats or solitude. Coffee on the front porch swing was a treat! Dinner on the deck or in the dining room was enjoyable. We felt safe and the house was quiet despite being on a busy street. The host notified us that there was a problem with the washer and promptly arranged for its repair and personally checked that it was completed. There were books and games available as well as brochures and area attraction information. I would highly recommend the Blue Hen!

Summary: My family and I loved staying at the Hidden Gem for a family wedding. With three thirty-something daughters, the home’s four bathrooms gave us the space to get ready, without any drama! We also truly enjoyed the deck off the kitchen. It was a perfect June weekend in a gorgeous green space.
