This cottage is a much loved welcoming renovated, architect-designed 60s family beach house. It features:
- panoramic north-facing ocean views
- relaxed, light-filled, inviting atmosphere
- original jarrah floors
- three bedrooms - sleeps 6 comfortably
- one queen room, two twin single rooms
- two of the bedrooms open to the north-facing balcony
- a few minutes walk from the beach.
Longer term rentals are also available. This is the perfect place to write, reflect, paint or retreat... or just enjoy the view!
Pets will be considered, upon application.
About Black Head
Black Head Beach is a beautiful, yet little-known, part of Australia’s eastern coastline, only 3+ hrs drive north of Sydney. A perfect weekend getaway or a longer holiday break, just off the Pacific Highway between Forster and Taree.
Black Head Beach is a safe swimming beach, patrolled by surf lifesavers in summer, and features a wonderful ocean lap pool.
Nearby is Nine Mile Beach, also known as Back Beach, which is undeveloped and expansive, and features amazingly beautiful forest and beach walks .
Black Head Beach/Halliday’s Point features a well-stocked supermarket which sells fruit and vegetables, a butcher with fresh local fish and fresh eggs, and bottle shops.

Summary: We had a wonderful stay at Hidden Jewel. Everything was spotless and fresh. A very airy home with sunshine for most of the day on the balcony overlooking Black Head beach. Perfect location to access the beaches in the area by foot and in walking distance to shops and cafes. We can’t wait to come back! Our dog had a great time too and crashed out on the balcony after all his beach runs. Wendy was wonderful to deal with and we have no hesitation recommending Hidden Jewel to anyone looking to stay in the area

Summary: Compact but everything you need. Dogs allowed a bonus for us. Dining out a bit limited but if you have paws the Bowling Club allows them outside. Menu has standard pub fare plus Asian & specials Worked for us. There is also a Tavern down the road - a bit rough I thought but food OKish. Great Foodworks & Butcher Coffee in cafe not to my palate. Bring your own espresso stove top pot. Plenty of plungers here. Highly recommended.

Summary: We arrived to this beautiful, cosy beach house with stunning views and breathtaking sounds of the ocean to stay for our summer holiday week. All bedrooms suited our family of adults and teenagers perfectly. The dog was also very happy with a spot on a dog bed with the breeze blowing and hearing the sound of the sea. We were then able to take a quick stroll out the door to the beach to enjoy the stunning Blackhead Beach. The host was very conscientious, sending messages to make sure that we had checked in and were ok. Thank you Wendy, we hope we are able to stay again!

Summary: Very welcoming home. Not too fussy; not too basic. Lovely water views. Enjoyed the choice of nearby beaches, ocean pool, stores and cafes within walking distance. Thank you Wendy for enabling our experience and doing that little extra to make sure we felt at home.
