5 Bedroom House in Clear Lake

This is a vintage 1890 home with five large bedrooms on the second floor and one bedroom on the first floor. One bathroom on the main floor and two bathrooms on the second floor that are separate from any bedrooms.
We recently added a queen sized bed to the first floor for those who prefer to avoid the stairs. We also have a fold out couch in the Fireplace room. So we now have six bedrooms all with blackout shades that can sleep 18 guests.
One bedroom on the second floor is a family friendly with a queen size bed, a trundle bed that makes into a double bed or it can be used as a single bed if needed and crib. Another second floor bedroom has a queen size and single bed. The other bedrooms have a queen bed and a twin and the two baths are also located on the second floor, one has a full size shower and the other has a tub/ shower combination. The laundry room is also located on the second floor which our guests are welcome to use.
This original home has recently been updated with new roof, new windows and window treatments, new kitchen, 1 new bathroom and laundry. The electrical and plumbing systems have all been replaced. Two new furnaces with central air conditioning.
We want our guests to feel safe, so we have hard wired smoke and carbon monoxide detectors. We also have fire extinguishers on each floor.
The guests are provided a unique access code to use on the digital door locks upon arrival and during their stay. We also have a video door bell that will immediately contact us should our guests have a problem accessing the home.
The home is great for family get togethers. Sleeps up to 18. Close to downtown and the lake.
Plenty of off street parking behind the home with easy access to the Kitchen entry.
Nice quiet neighborhood. The library is right next door.
This property had always been owned by the Clausen family since it was built until we purchased it in April 2018. We decided to continue the Clausen name. This is a three generation endeavor with our children and grandchildren.
We continue to update the exterior and the grounds as time and weather permits.
The property also includes a two story schoolhouse built in 1872 that we are working to make into a vacation rental as well. Hopefully this will be available the summer of 2024
The property is a large corner lot with lots of trees which provide shade and a small patio with a small fire pit. In the summer time friendly owls can be heard hooting at dusk.
It a short 2 block walk to main street, and 3 blocks to the Lake.
Our hope is that you will enjoy this home and all the character that it offers along with all the modern conveniences like high speed Wi Fi, new washer and dryer, new dishwasher, coffee maker, new stove, and new refrigerator with ice maker.
It also offers a large screened in porch with wicker furniture and a small back porch with a couple of rocking chairs to relax in.

Summary: You can't go wrong in renting the Clausen Home. This Historic home has been beautifully remodeled and is a very comfortable, relaxing place to stay, especially if you are traveling in a large group! The home is conveniently located in town and in a location where you can get to many attractions very quickly. We love staying here every time we visit Clear Lake.

Summary: We loved staying at the Clausen House. It is a beautiful Victorian Home, with antiques and remnants of that past era sprinkled thru out the home. I suggest that anyone that stays there, should take the time to read the literature available about the history of the home and the restoration process. Our family celebrated Christmas there this year. The home was decorated with Christmas decorations and a big beautiful Christmas tree in the living room. The Open stairway was lined with Christmas Garland, great for pictures of the Grandkids. It was a charming and cozy atmosphere. My Grandchildren loved having a sleep over with the whole family. There was 16 of us and plenty of room for all of us to have a relaxing and comfortable stay. Myron is a fantastic host. There are lots of amenities. Everything you need is provided. It is close up town, but also a very quiet neighborhood. I hope to have a family get together there again. Thank you Myron for everything!!!!

Summary: Beautiful house that was nice and clean throughout. The hosts were great the whole time staying in communication with very easy check in and out. The location is a very short walk from the lake and everything else around clear lake. Highly recommend

Summary: I have always enjoyed the large two story homes that were built in the mid to late eighteen hundred’s. The Clausen House is one or those homes and is a joy to experience and call home for one week out of the year. This home is located in the small and friendly town of Clear Lake, Ia. with its rich musical connections to the music of the fifties.

Summary: The property was great. Everyone enjoyed the antique feel of the grand old house while the necessities, kitchen and bathrooms were nicely update. We loved the dining room table that let all of us sit together. The entire property gave us lots of room. We enjoyed having a fire outside in the evening. The owner was so accommodating and thoughtful. We recommend the property.

Summary: The home is huge, accommodating and filled with history while being comfortable. Unfortunately a family gathering needed to occur due to a family member passing. The owner was incredibly accommodating to a change in family coming to the funeral/needing to stay at home. The home itself was perfect for family meals, gathering and relaxing, so we were able to reminisce about our loved one who passed. Highly recommend property.

Summary: What a great weekend at The Clausen House! We had 8 adults and 8 grands under 8 yrs old! The location was in the heart of the town and the Lake for easy walks to shops, coffee, beach and splash pad, city park, Fire Museum, Freedom Rock and Central Gardens to name a few. The house easily fit our family with plenty of room inside and outside to enjoy family fun! Myron, the owner, was always a text away for questions and made sure we had everything we needed. Very clean historic house that we will always remember the fun times we had and the memories we made!

Summary: This house was the most equipped VRBO we have ever stayed at and we have stayed at plenty! This is a great rental for a large family six bedrooms all queen beds plus more! We had a family dinner for 12 at the family dining room and had all the pots and pans to cook for everyone. The grill was fabulous. They had plenty of games indoor and out for kids. This house had everything you could possibly need!

Summary: This is the second time our family has stayed at this house in Clear Lake, and it is one of our favorite places to stay for many reason. We were in Clear Lake to attend the wedding of a great-niece. Our family filled the house but never felt like we were on top of each other. On Saturday we had my husband's siblings over and we grilled burgers and dogs on the grill and sat around the firepit. Everyone brought their lawn chairs and we had a fabulous time. We enjoy this house because we are so close to everything. The kids enjoyed being able to walk to the park and splash pad and lake. Also they loved going next door to the library. The shoppers were able to walk to main street and check out the stores whenever they wanted. And getting a coffee or ice cream or a bite to east was also easy.
