Summary: This villa is lovely and old and very spacious. The hosts are beyond charming and so helpful. We were able to enjoy being in the country while also being very proximate to cities, towns, wine tasting and other activities, like hilltop hiking. The kitchen was not the most convenient for home cooking for Americans used to a more modern kitchen, but we managed. Our hostess made our first dinner, which was so nice and so delicious. This is an optional add-on.

Summary: We were a group of 10 (7 adults, 2 children and 1 infant) staying at Villa Sogara for a week in July of 2024. The house was a great base for exploring Verona and many other cities / areas in the surroundings. The pool and AC in the bed rooms were really appreciated in what was a very hot and humid week. The old house is full of charm and quirks and worked well for a large group. Details such as the two dishwashers, two fridges and elevator to the first floor for e.g. heavy luggage, were REALLY convenient! The house is in bucolic surroundings yet a quick 20 min drive from the historic part of Verona - couldn’t be better!

Summary: If you are dreaming of a truly authentic experience look no further! We were a party of 12 including a 4 year old and 1 1/2 year old. The bedrooms are quite large and there are all kinds of nooks if you want some privacy. Ela taught us how to make pasta and risotto. Tommaso gave us a wine tasting with the wines that are produced from the grapes on the property. 12 out of 10!!

Summary: My family (6 adult, 1 18 yo, and 1 9 yo) stayed for 8 days on the property. The host Tommaso was amazing from our initial contact to reserve the Villa to the day of checkout. The Villa was clean and spacious and provided a central location for us to make day trips to Verona, Venice, Florence, and Lake Garda. Taxi service from Verona was easy to arrange, although we rented 2 cars for the week as well. I'm surprised by some of the reviews about the property being in need of updating. It was clear to me after my conversations with Tommaso that the family property was built 600 years ago, renovated in the early 20th century, and then again updated (mainly to the bathrooms and kitchen) in the early 21st century. As such, sometimes the floors creaked and the fixtures were older. It's located in the hillsides of the Verona province on vineyards, so it is a rustic property. But this is what we were looking for. We wanted a place that was comfortable, uniquely Italian with period furnishings and a luxurious yet homely feel. I got exactly that at Villa Sogara. My only issue was that Wifi and cellular service could be spotty at the edges of the Villa. But overall, wifi was available and predominantly fast enough. The surrounding village was easily accessible and convenient. My family members are already planning a return visit. I'd highly recommend this property and the host to anyone looking to spend time in the area.

Summary: A wonderful authentic historic family villa. Tomaaso and his family have a passion for the property and the surrounding vineyards, wine & food. Very attentive, always pleased to help. A place of timeless beauty, Don’t expect sleek and modern, But with adequate AC and excellent internet, that was enough for us. We shall remember a wonderful 3 weeks there.

Summary: House feels full of stories and perfect for a large group. The upstairs is sprawling with plenty of comfortable bedrooms for a crowd as well as communal spaces to either gather or quiet corners to get away. The downstairs has a very practical and complete kitchen / laundry / dining areas. The outdoor spaces were our favorites, though, the covered porch/dining area, upstairs loggia, and pool. The pool is clean and fresh and is situated so there is shade in the afternoon. A gate can be closed to protect young kids, and you can hear the pool from the kitchen to supervise teens. The location is near a small town, but not close enough to walk. With a car it is easy to visit Lake Garda and Verona as well as lesser-known (relaxed and not overtouristed!) areas such as Mantova and Vicenza. Venice, Parma, and many other attractions are within an hour. We especially enjoyed the warm welcome of the owners and the tasting they arranged of local products, including of the vines and olive trees on the property. This was a marvelous backdrop for a family reunion and exploring northern Italy. We hope to one day return in other seasons and share with other friends!
