This rustic, cozy 2-bedroom cottage was originally a blacksmith shop. It has been converted to a Maine style "camp" with 1 queen bed and 2 twin beds (twin beds are not suitable for adults). It is very private on a large property. Enjoy ocean access to Contention Cove for beach combing, walking the shore and swimming. Eagle, deer and other nature abounds in this peaceful setting.
Dogs are allowed, please contact us in advance with the type/size of the dog. There will be a $175 non-refundable fee added to your reservation.
For the comfort of all our guests, no smoking is allowed.

Summary: Little chilly this time of year but space heaters did the trick. Cozy, rustic little cabin in the woods. We were quite comfortable and the location worked well for us. Liked the windows in the LR and charm/history of the place.

Summary: We were relaxed and at home from the moment we pulled up to the cabin. The location was very convenient--close enough to amenities and activities that you didn't have to be gone for the whole day if you didn't want to, yet far enough from hustle and bustle that you could just enjoy the sounds of nature. Our kids enjoyed the beach and exploring in the woods near the house. It got very cold on a couple of mornings so the whole house was damp, but once we pulled out the space heater it fixed that within an hour or two. There aren't a few modern things (dishwasher, washer and dryer) that we have grown accustomed to having, but we had no problem washing dishes by hand and going to the laundromat only a few miles away when we needed to. Overall, a great time that we all enjoyed.

Summary: My husband and I spent three nights over our anniversary at the cabin and had such a relaxing, fun time. Everything was just as pictured and great location. The cabin is very comfortable and short drive from Bar Harbor and Acadia. Lots to do in the area. We hope to return again.

Summary: We spent 8 nights at the Hobby Horse and found it more than met our expectations. We loved all of the woodwork, the pictures, the knick knacks and the ambiance. Coupled with modern wiring, a 4k tv, and strong internet it was brought into the modern world nicely!

Summary: We were looking for a nice rustic cabin with privacy that had water access. The cabin was the perfecr place. Check in process was easy. Great location if you want a place that is private but still commutable to area attractions. The only reason i give it 4 stars instead of 5 was the lack of ceiling fans in the bedrooms and even a window air conditioner would have been great. It was very humid during our stay so nights were a bit uncomfortable. Still loved the place.

Summary: Such a lovely cabin. The pictures don’t show off how cute this place is. The location is perfect. It’s calm around and Acadia and Bar Harbor aren’t that far away. The beach is only a few minute walk from the porch too. Liberal we loved it would would definitely come back for future Acadia trips!

Summary: Husband and I stayed here to celebrate our wedding anniversary 30th. The kitchen was well equipped for cooking and had microwave, coffee maker, as well as all the pans and dishes needed. Beach was a short walk away and fun to explore. Cool breeze from ocean was lovely in the evening.
