This newly built cottage on Hog Lake in Emsdale is 24 kms north of Huntsville & 4 kms south of Kearney. It has main floor master with Queen bed and 3 piece bath and two bedrooms in the walkout lower level with 1 queen and the other two sets of bunk beds (1 single/single & 1 single/double). with another full 3 piece bath in lower level. Muskoka/Screened room is attached and off of dining room. Internet is available. The cottage is surrounded by mulch to allow nature to return. The water is 6' deep off the end of the dock and you can walk in and out beside the dock for easy access. The cottage rental comes with a kayak, canoe, paddle boat, a tin boat with an electric motor for fishing or a tour of the lake and horseshoe pit. The Seguin trail is right next to the property for ATV riding if you have one and you can ride into the town of Kearney which is 4km away where you will find restaurants/pub, LCBO and a few others. Novar is 12km away where you will find Foodland with a Subway and LCBO. Huntsville is 24km away where you will find a cinema, golf, Independant grocer, Walmart, Canadian Tire and many more things to do on a rainy day.

Summary: This cottage has everything you could possibly need. We felt 'at home' immediately. Donna, the owner, contacted us to make certain we had no concerns. She responds quickly to messages. The lake was beautiful, clean, peaceful and very quiet. Our 4 year old grandson spent hours every day playing on the sandy beach area, as well as swimming in the water. We used the paddle boat, paddle board, canoe, and tin boat with electric motor. We enjoyed hours of fun fishing from the dock and caught sunfish, many large and small mouth bass using worms but had better luck using minnows. There was wood supplied so we could enjoy a bonfire nightly. The screened in porch was a favorite spot for our morning coffee. The week went too quickly! We would love to spend time there again.

Summary: The property and accessabilty was perfect. The cottage was right off the Park to Park sequin trail for the ATV's and the cottage was perfect for 8 people. The owner was extremely accommodating and helpful. If complete quite and relaxation is what you want this is the quitest lake we have ever been on with good fishing.

Summary: We had a great time at this property. Hog lake is the perfect size for our family. You could see the whole lake from the dock so we felt safe with the children out on the water. It was very quiet and most of the time we felt like we had the lake to ourselves. We were looking for a relaxing holiday and this cottage and location was perfect for that! We brought our own kayaks. We used the firepit when the weather allowed. The screened in porch was welcome for the rainy times. We plan to stay again!

Summary: This is the first time we have booked to return to the same cottage as we enjoyed it so much last year. The property itself has all the amenities of a home plus what one would expect at a great cottage getaway. The screened in porch is definitely a highlight - we were able to sit out there during a rain storm and retreat in the evenings when the bugs came out in force. The layout allows for privacy when travelling with other adults with a bathroom on each floor. We didn't try either TV but they looked new - certainly they are very large which would be good for watching movies. The beds, pillows and linens are more of an average cottage quality. While this lake is too small for anything other than a short paddle it is in close proximity to some wonderful lakes and both the Magnetawan and big East Rivers. It's just over an hours drive to Algonquin Park. Hog Lake is so peaceful with no motor boats and beautiful to see the morning sun rising over the trees. Lots of fish and birds - very idyllic to sit on the dock and contemplate life. Communication with the hosts is professional, responsive and congenial. Look forward to future stays at Hog Lake Haven!

Summary: We had an amazing week at this gem of a cottage. Plenty of room for our group to be together and have our own space. The quiet private lake made for a relaxing and enjoyable week. The dock deck and screened porch were used daily. The hosts were extremely attentive and helpful. Always quick to respond and checked in to make sure we were taken care off. Already looking forward to going back next year!

Summary: First time to this spot and very happy with the cottage and surroundings. The cottage is compact and well laid out. We were two couples so felt like two "apartments" with a bedroom on each floor each with a bathroom. The two queen beds were comfortable - didn't try the bunks which had mattress on top of springs. There were mattress covers which we appreciated! No pillow protectors so you may want to bring your own. Instructions were thorough and accurate. Good water pressure. Kitchen is well stocked. Exceptional outdoor areas - firepit has extremely comfortable muskoka chairs. Lovely evenings with a fire and starry skies. We sat on the dock most late afternoons for a pre dinner cocktail - so very peaceful. The screened in porch is lovely as is the deck where we had lots of late afternoon sun for cooler temps. The lake is small and peaceful - took 12 minutes to kayak around the shore. The purpose of our trip was R&R and kayaking. The cottage was perfect for the first and a great location for the latter. Highly recommend paddles in Rain Lake (about 25 min drive); Big East River (need two vehicles - get in at Tulip Motel and out at Lake Vernon) and the North Madawaska River off Lake of Two Rivers with access from campgrounds (easy beaver dams to go over top with kayaks). Donna was very friendly and responsive. You can't go wrong booking here!

Summary: We found this cottage to be very well appointed and very clean. We enjoyed soaking up the sun on the dock(s) by the lake. The morning son over the lake provided beautiful views and great Kodak moments. This quiet location provided just the relaxing atmosphere we were looking for. We made excellent use of the screened-in room to enjoy fresh air without worry of exposure to the elements. Donna and Keith proved to be excellent hosts and answered any and all questions we had quite readily. We would definitely consider coming back.
