Summary: The apartment is in a quiet location, yet only 35 minutes from the centre of Munich by train - the station is a 5/10 minute walk from the apartment. Warngau is a walkers' paradise and there are many hiking opportunities in and around Tegernsee, Bad Toelz, Bayrischzell, Lenggries and Schliersee - also easily reached by train. The owners are very friendly and helpful. The apartment has everything needed for a comfortable, self-catering holiday - it is beautifully and traditionally furnished. There is a small supermarket in the village for everyday provisions, plus a well-stocked off licence - both a 10 minute walk away. We can thoroughly recommend this beautiful holiday apartment.

Summary: This was the top floor of the Steinbergers' home but with a separate entrance. The flat had everything you can want and was clean and tidy. The only single drawback is that there wasn't a shower, only a hand-held shower-head in the bath. But it is a great place to stay, quiet and with views to the Alps and maize fields. Warngau is a village with a lovely bakery, ice cream shop, supermarket and pub, although while we were there the village was divided into two by roadworks - they were doing something complicated to the road layout so you are diverted through the lanes. You could walk to the rest of the village from the flat (5 to 10 mins) but to drive there involved a several mile diversion. The flat was less than a 10 minute walk to the small railway station with hourly trains into Munich. Buy a Bayern ticket which costs 25 euros for person 1 and then 6 euros each for upto 4 travelling companions and that covers the train fare on local trains within Bavaria (we got to Nuremberg with the same deal) also all public transport such as buses, s-bahn and u-bahn so you can get around Munich as well on the same ticket. Taking into account parking and public transport we reckoned the Bayern ticket was the cheapest way for the 4 of us to get to Munich. (Coming home the train from Munich is in 3 sections. You need to be on the section that goes either to Tegernsee or Lenggries as the front section separates at Holzkirchen). Parking at Warngau station is free. If you have a hire car there is parking outside the flat and easy access to major roads. Austria is less than 2 hours away and there are lakes within a hour. Munich was about 30 minutes, but there are major roadworks going on so could take much longer. Holzkirchen is 10 minutes away and is the nearest town of any size with a good selection of shops, supermarkets and restaurants. You'll need your satnav to find Lidl though! We had a lovely time and would definitely recommend it as a base in Bavaria.

Summary: We stayed in the house for a few days in august. We liked it a lot! The house is spotless clean and equipped with everything you need, including a HUGE channel selection on the Dish TV. The owner is English speaking, very easy to deal with and he can be reached almost at any time. The super market is just across the street, walking distance form the house as well as AMAZING local restaurant "Post". The owner of the house recommended us this place. If you would like to go and try some really great local food just ask the house owner and he will point you in right direction. I would definitely stay in this place again!

Summary: We loved staying at this apartment. Traveling with me were my daughter and two granddaughters aged 9 and 13. It felt like our home away from home. It was perfect for exploring Bavaria and was ideal for our needs. The apartment was very clean and fully equipped with everything we needed. We loved the small village and went to their annual dorffest one of the nights while we were there. I am looking forward to staying there again.

Summary: Our family, which included two adults and two children ages 9 and 7, had a wonderful stay. The hospitality was fantastic and quite frankly exceeded what should be expected. Additionally, the apartment was charming, well appointed, comfortable and very clean. We immediately felt at home. The village was exactly what we were looking for, as we felt immersed in the German culture and enjoyed the calm, slower pace and friendliness of a smaller village while also being close to Munich and other destinations. We traveled by train and foot only and found no issues with going to new, enjoyable places every day. Several were made known to us by Thomas’ thoughtful recommendations. We felt we could’ve stayed longer as there was so much to do and we ran out of time. The Tegernsee was a recommendation and one of our favorite places to go given we visited in July. Regardless of what we did during the day, we looked forward each night to returning to our quiet oasis. We would not hesitate recommending this apartment to family and friends and hope to visit again.
