Positive: Our unit 1 was quite new and modern. No roaches or bugs. Water tasted great. Quiet location. Owners were responsive to any requests. I liked that they had a communal kitchen area and shared coffee and drinks.

Negative: If you like to sleep in past 7 you may hear people grinding coffee on the kitchen.

Positive: The owner was friendly and attentive to our every need. The room was very recently remodeled, well appointed, and very comfortable. We loved that the neighborhood was Bohemian, had several locally owned shops, and held a lot of Hilo history.

Negative: The balcony only opens onto a garden view rather than a landscape view.

Summary: This is a fun place to stay. We loved it.

Positive: Such a nice, comfortable, and homey inn!! Cody and Nicole are excellent hosts who are super communicative and helpful. It was so convenient to have code entry for both the inn and the room. Quiet, really nicely decorated and renovated, and comfortable! After full days and nights at Merrie Monarch, it was such a welcome respite to come back to!!

Negative: Pillows could be better quality - they were quite limp and lumpy!

Summary: Beautiful, historic and comfortable inn in a quiet and beautiful town close to Akaka Falls!

Positive: The room was simply and comfortably furnished, and the breakfast (self-service from the refrigerator) was acceptable.

Negative: It was simply impossible to close the room doors quietly. Every door slammed, which unfortunately made it quite noisy. Especially thanks to the lovely early risers. The blinds on the windows are only for privacy. After sunrise, it was therefore as bright as day in the room.

Positive: The quiet for the most part, as long as other guests respect that!

Negative: After a 6 day stay, no change of towels or bedding. The bathroom was not cleaned at all & I had to do the work myself. The bed was never made unless I did it. Room trash was not removed either, we had to deposit in the kitchen receptacle. There are only about 6 or 7 rooms here, so I do NOT understand! We are very conscientious* & respectful* guests & hoped for a bit more attention to room cleaning. Very disappointing that the building balconies are not kept up & haven't been painted in years. The front entrance isn't even at least swept to have an appearance of basic welcoming care*. Breakfast is "continental", as expected. > And- no small safe in the room to put valuables!!! We had to carry all of our important things to the beaches etc.

Summary: We stayed 6 years ago at the Honomu Inn & found our return disappointing on many basic* levels.

Positive: Everything was great. The Inn was very comfortable, and the owners generous and welcoming. We loved the little town and the proximity to the Hawaii Tropical Botanical Garden, which was one of the highlights of our trip to the big island.

Negative: nothing

Summary: Honomu is a lovely and peaceful place along a beautiful stretch of the coast north of Hilo.
