Summary: It’s like visiting Switzerland 10 years ago. The hotel needs a lot of modernising. Car park is far too small, with too many spaces. There isn’t enough space to turn around when it’s full. There was no fan in the room, but the receptionist said there was, when we established that there wasn’t she told us that it will have been given to another guest and that we couldn’t have one because the hotel was fully booked. They had a sign on the road saying they had rooms available, On the 2nd night we asked for extra pillows, and were told house keeping had gone home and the receptionist only knew one place to look (same receptionist from the day before). After half an hour we went back to reception and asked, she had “forgotten” and will check. She found one, and again told us the hotel was fully booked so we couldn’t have another. Again, the rooms available sign was outside the front of the hotel. It was however, very clean and the guy that checked us in was great.

Summary: Nice place to stay for a few days by the beautiful lake. There were lots of flies around the breakfast spread which was not that good. The room felt very hot in the night even with open window.

Summary: This is a nice, old-fashioned, family-run hotel close by the lake shore, and about ten minutes walk from the rail stations and boat pier. Staff were nice and friendly and the hotel is clean, and quite basic - there was a good breakfast. A good option for anyone who wants a simple stay.

Summary: My wife and I like to stay in small towns. We do not like fancy hotels and big cities. We like to have a place we can anchor from and then enjoy the journey. Hotel Brienz was perfect. First the area is amazing. The staff is great. Family owned and operated. You are 1 hour from Luzern, and Bern. 40 minutes to Grindelwald and Lauterbrunnen. 20 from Interlaken. 2 3/4 hour train ride to Zermatt. Hotel offers a very nice and complete breakfast. Rooms are very clean. The bed was a little hard but the staff went out of their way to bring me other items such a pillows, blankets to make it more comfortable. They genuinely cared. It is not a new property, but it is very well kept. Keeps the charm of the area. Wry quiet and the views are stunning. Great hotel. Great staff, great access to the wonders of Switzerland.

Summary: Brief overnight stop. Decent enough room for the price. Not fancy or “corporate “ but the bed was a comfy single ( should have asked for another pillow - my mistake ), shower was hot and powerful enough and reception was polite and efficient.

Summary: Location wise, this could not be better. Staff were very helpful, breakfast was nice. The restaurant in the evening has a good selection of Swiss traditional dishes - otherwise you can cross the road and go to Loewen (which belongs to the hotel as well). Note that for late night check-in you need to call them so they can leave your room key in a safe box at the main entrance (dead easy).

Summary: The hotel was right across the street from the lake. Delicious breakfast and great location in a beautiful, quiet town. Would definitely recommend this hotel and if in the area I would stay here again!
