Summary: Great hotel in the middle of all things alesund. We used the sauna twice in the three days we stayed. Loved meeting other travelers there and in front of the massive fireplace. Our room overlooked the canal

Summary: The main areas of the hotel are beautiful. The rooms are not like the photos online, beware. Small, limited windows, and uncomfortable beds. Other than the front desk service workers were grumpy and unwelcoming. Super noisy at night from the people on the docks.

Summary: Wonderful hotel and staff, the two restaurants were very good and we loved the place. The concierge helped us get round trip tix on the daily Hurtigruten/Havila fjord cruise (part of their Norwegian coastal journey has them come into Alesund in the AM and then go down the fjord and back to Alesund that evening).

Summary: The Hotel Brosundet appears to be a quaint waterfront hotel in Alesund. We were "upgraded" to a junior suite in the "other building," not the main hotel building. To reach our room, we had to take an elevator downstairs, walk down a set of steps, walk back up a set of steps, then take an elevator to the 4th floor of the "other building." Why in the world can't you provide access directly into the next-door building where our room was located?? The room itself was totally unsatisfactory - the floor was sloped heavily so that our roller-suitcases rolled to the opposite wall if left alone in the middle of the room. The bathroom/vanity area is just a glassed-off cubicle, and the shower has huge gaps around wooden beams which allows sprayed water from the shower to reach outside to the room. We would never stay at Hotel Brosundet again - we will search for a hotel with even floors and normal bathroom and amenities if we ever return to Alesund.

Summary: This is a charming building, well located, lovely view from sea facing rooms, but this property fails at the basic hotel function of providing a comfortable place to sleep - no in room temperature control, small rooms that become extremely hot and stuffy overnight. Mood lighting in the rooms is woefully insufficient to offer anything other than Vibes. May be a function of building age, but walls are thin and you can hear everything happening in the hallway and lobby. Very indifferent staff, even by Nordic standards. Advised by bartender at the cocktail bar that they are currently unable to offer a cocktail menu. Charged me for prepaid reservation, insisted they didn’t, took an hour of my time and producing bank statements to rectify, which is not time well spent on holiday. Small quibble but requiring a phone number or email to verify for wifi is ridiculous and emblematic of their lack of actual consideration of what it’s like to be a traveler (i need wifi to check my email to verify the code to get on the wifi…?!). All in all, nothing really disastrous but the pervasive feeling the hotel left me with was irritation.
