Positive: The location of the hotel is excellent, every room has an ocean view and beautiful well maintained landscape. The staff is polite and helpful.
Negative: The rooms are very clean but need some upgrades and the also some of the outside areas.
Summary: We had a very good experience at the Guajataca, we loved the ocean view and staff.

Positive: The hotel was located on the ocean with a beautiful view. The infinity pool area was also attractive, although we didn’t swim. There was a big outdoor bar that was busy. The free breakfast was good, but it appears the workers were told to be frugal with all condiment packets. We also ate dinner in the restaurant and it was mediocre. That’s where the positives end.
Negative: The hotel is a long sprawling facility with around 32 rooms. We were in 28. There is a long walkway to the rooms, with a stairway to a set of two rooms. You either go up the stairs to the upper room, or down to the lower room, which is where 28 was. When we continued to our room, the liter around the walks and stairway got worse. There was chipping concrete and rotting wood rails. From our room’s small balcony, you could see the water from the laundry room, which we passed along the way, pouring water into the lawn. There was mold in our bathroom from a previous leak from the room above. There were no bedskirts, linens were old and the pool towels from the front desk should have been donated to an animal shelter. The hotel needs some serious TCL, which would include new linens, furniture, beds and a lot of repair and clean up. We had no hot water and the tv didn’t work. Maintenance came and said they couldn’t fix it. As I was taking pictures outside our door, the largest wolf spider I’ve ever seen ran into our room. Thank god we were ready to check out . We stayed at 6 different hotels during our stay in Puerto Rico and this was the only one we left a negative review for. The grounds were very nice, but that couldn’t make up for the hotel being in disrepair, especially since there were old hot tubs and other items on the property. I’m sure in its day it was lovely, but the owners don’t want to invest any new money in this once nice facility. I won’t return.
